Located on Geary Blvd near 4th Avenue in the Richmond District San Francisco. The owner is very nice. Unfortunately the wait staff could use some customer service training. What we ordered: 1. Winter Melon Soup not bad could use a bit more seasoning. 2. Ginger Chicken. The waitress messed this up by putting a Gravy over the chicken which is not what we wanted. Tasted ok chicken was right… 3. Beef Chow Fun this was very good beef was tender. 4. Fried pork spareribs this was not bad. 5. Seafood Tofu Clay Pot again this was not prepared the way it was ordered. So did not great tasting. 6. Pea spouts in ginger garlic. The taste was good but the sprouts were chewy.
I take my 76 year old mother and 51 years old mentally disabled sister here. They enjoy the claypot rice here very much. A true hidden gem. If you are Toishan and looking for a good place to get delicious food, look no further. We ordered spareribs clay pot rice chicken and Chinese sausage clay pot rice and they served complimentary lotus root and peanut soup. My mom taught me her Claypot etiquette: as soon as the pot arrives, mix the rice and remember to scoop and mix everything from the bottom of the pot including mixing the crunchy rice with rest and last, serve into a bowl
I was looking for a place to eat before an appointment at Kaiser on 6 Avenue, I walked several blocks on the Kaiser side and came back the opposite side because I didn’t like the restaurants on that side, on my way back to Kaiser I crossed the street to see if there was anything appealing and happened to see this Chinese restaurant with people coming in and out. I decided to give it a try, I sat myself and went and got a menu to see the items, it took a few minutes for service to arrive, I finally got a pot of hot tea and I ordered The Shrimp with Scrambled Eggs over Rice. I was patiently waiting because I happened to look at a table in the middle of the back area completely full with meals to go, lunch time in the area the food smelled was pleasant. I got up to get water at a self served area. When I finally got my order I was happy with the rice, it was the right structure, perfectly cooked with a nice aroma and taste, the eggs with scrambled eggs perfectly complimented each other. I was happy with the meal and understanding of the waiting time because the underwhelming amount of orders to go, the staff was pleasant and efficient making sure everyone got the right order.
Well, I looked this place up on line, I wasn't expecting much, but I was surprised, the food was delicious. The service was ok...some of the staff didn't speak much English, but what made up for service was price! Two of us ate for about $46.00 wich included tip, we ordered two plates each. The servings were big. Oh and you get a big bowl of broth for free! So, if your looking for a cheap place to eat with great prices..check this place out!
Cheap, good food! They don't have live fish, butt if you bring your own, they will cook it for you! Much cheaper!
The clay pot rice was good along with the other dishes; only issue was “ cash only” or credit card machine was not working
This is one of the greatest hole in the wall restaurants in the city. And definitely a go to for me whenever I’m craving chicken wings, which is often. There aren’t that many people that eat in the restaurant so it’s relatively spacious. The atmosphere is definitely nothing to write home about, but it definitely has a hole in the wall feel to it. The service isn’t like a five star fine dining restaurant, but it gets the job done. I speak Cantonese, and so do the owners, so it feels like home whenever I go. We always pick the option that allows you to pick three dishes and it usually comes with rice and it’s all around $40 and for the price, that food is awesome. I ALWAYS get the chicken wings, and the beef and green beans, but everything is good. I think the mapo Tofu could use more flavour, but overall it’s huge portions for the price.
Our usual spot on Clement St recently closed so we were thrilled to discover this gem nearby. Nothing fancy here. Just fresh, authentic, very tasty recipes served in a friendly way in a simple, homey atmosphere. No frills. Big portions. Great food.Food: 5/5
Tomato beef jin mein! Big puff of fried noodles and large sauce container on side!
Good Chinese food, and a lot of variety and options. They're a family business, but can still meet the demands of high volume of orders. Not expensive, big portions, and willing to accommodate special requests. Vegetarian options: They're willing to accommodate special requests. My mom is Buddhist vegetarian and doesn't eat onions or garlic. They regularly accommodate her request and she comes here regularly.
