Lindsey and team have done a phenomenal job for us in repairing our home after a tree fell on the house. Also, we hired them a couple of years later to do some remodeling for us. Love the fact that they're responsive and always looking to deliver quality.

Beware of NO Permits. The business is a NC Licensed General Contractor but yet they failed to pull building permits before the work started. Contracted with them to build a loft over an open foyer, they started on time but did not get any permits. 3 days into the project, after demo and new structural work completed, I discover no permits had been issued by the town despite my assurances that they follow the building code. It was only after calling them and inquiring about the permits and being told by an owner that permits "are not issued for theoretical work" and that "it can be confusing if you don't understand" that they went on Day 4 to get the permits. Also when filling out the permit forms they indicated the work had not yet started, because they did not want to pay the double permit fees as a penalty (another issue I had to deal with the Town about to get straight). Once confronted their excuses included: illness, they were planning all along, it takes to long to get the permit, we wanted to be quicker, had to get the engineer to look in the walls once we opened them (please note the stamped engineer plans were dated from before starting the work), every one does it this way, and it is "best practice" to name a few. Keep in mind this project was scheduled over 6 weeks prior to start. They stated they stand by their work and claim they were not attempting to defraud me by leaving my a renovation in a house that I can't sell or insure properly. I say homeowner beware if it seems sketchy then it probably is. Now I have to find a new contractor and continue to be displaced while I get the work completed. Despite doing my homework and checking them out thoroughly I felt I should let others know in case they have the same story again. An update on 8/13/2014 the work they completed was not to code and a number of violations were found. The owner Lindsey made a verbal agreement (which was recorded) to refund money if the work they did was not to code. To this day after multiple emails and phone calls I have yet to receive a refund. I filed a complaint with the BBB where they continue to deny that there was anything wrong with getting building permits after demolition and installing new structural work. Please read it for yourself and note how long they took to respond. They continued to make a number of incorrect statements. Great sales pitch, poor adherence to building code, and even worse follow up when something is wrong.

We had Greyhouse to do some remodeling for us in May, 2014. As part of the job, they removed a wall and put in new hardwood floors in the kitchen which had to be worked in to the existing family room floor. After the job was finished, the floors began to shift and move, the boards heaved and cupped. We called Chris, the Superintendent and he came back out with Solomon, the floor guy, and they tried to fix the problem by cutting the boards so they would not heave and filling the gaps with wood putty. We were not pleased with the results and it was obvious that they didn't know what to do to fix the floor.. They were going to come back and work on it again, but as the floor looked worse than before their "fix", we had lost confidence that they had enough expertise to make the floors right. One short piece of flooring would pop up every time you stepped on it. It had been glued down. It took us a year to get over the the disappointment of paying for quality work and getting work that was substandard. We have been too embarrassed to tell people we had our floors done. This past week, we moved out of our house, stored all our furniture again, and had a company that has been in business thirty years to come out and redo our floors. This has been an extremely costly mistake and I would not recommend Greyhouse to do any work on your home.

We just completed a detached garage project and I just want to say what a pleasure it was working with the Greyhouse staff. They were ALL so nice and very customer oriented. TJ went out of his way to help me with the permit issues. Chris was very responsive and happy to address all of my questions on the job site, and Lindsey worked through the contract and billing with customer service the priority. Thanks to all for a job well done. The finished building looks great! I would definitely use Greyhouse again for my next project.

We had Lindsey come to our home and propose a bathroom renovation. She had so many conflicting answers to questions that appear to be simple that the trust was just not there. After a few hours we warmed up to her but as the saying goes...Go with your gut instinct! We had to fire them and hire a new company to complete the job. We had the most shady looking subcontractors you could imagine in our home which none of them spoke English. The cost of the job was 31k which after the demo they had to charge us 4K more because our electrical panel "was not up to code" (which we found out it is) this was all done without a permit. Once we started to question how the electrical is not up to code if you do not have a permit they out of the blue got a permit for electric only...This is when the nightmare started. I can't tell you how much they lied about the supposed jobs that they have done. Once I researched them with the city of Raleigh I found out that they have only received seven (7) permits this year which tells me they either are lying about the jobs they are doing or they are doing them illegal. Either way I had to fired them because our attorney stated that going down the road to have them continue will be much more costly than to fired them, sue them and hire another company. We did hire and complete the bathroom since I am writing this and we will be seeing them in court to recover all of our expenses that were never needed to complete the original plan. BEWARE of the "sales pitch" it sounds good but go with your gut!!
