Story

Clarksdale, Mississippi has long been described as "Ground Zero" for blues aficionados from around the globe. It all started here. That's why Ground Zero Blues Club® was created — to celebrate the area's rich blues heritage and to provide a forum in which it can continue.

Located at Ø Blues Alley next door to the Delta Blues Museum in the heart of historic downtown Clarksdale, Ground Zero Blues Club® opened in May 2001. Owned by local attorney and businessman, Bill Luckett; Academy Award-winning actor and Mississippi Delta resident, Morgan Freeman; and Clarksdale native and Memphis entertainment executive, Howard Stovall; Ground Zero Blues Club® is the place for anyone looking for an authentic Delta Blues experience.

Don’t go. Not friendly. Not professional.
They wouldn’t refund our $ after 5 min of entry. We still had our coats on and the band didn’t even play 1 song. Manager Candy wouldn’t face us. « We were told she just left out the back door ».

OMG I think I might be the most fortunate person alive for this one reason. I actually am employed at G.Z., which is how I refer to this job. By far the best and most favorite job I have ever had. On the other hand it does not pay much, and you really gotta love your job to put up with the soap opera type atmosphere of a family managed business. I will tell you all that if you are looking to have a real fun and memorable experience, and you love the blues, then this is definitely the place to visit.

I realllllllly hate being over charged because the bar staff thinks I am not paying attention, or because they are not paying attention. A nice spot in Clarksdale for food and drinks but you have to pay attention to your bill when you recieve it after 50 minutes of trying to make eye contact with the bartender. The last time we were there it was alright, despite the 20 minute wait to pay our tab, I was still excited to give them another shot. Bad move
 Freeman has enough money. Spread your love around to the smaller places in town.
