GRPC, the MS Gulf Coast MPO, provides a wide range of planning support to the 12 cities and 3 counties that make up the Gulf Coast urbanized area.
GRPC has been providing comprehensive planning support the the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 1967. We currently have fifteen member jurisdictions including; the three coastal counties of Hancock, Harrison and Jackson and the cities of Waveland, Bay St Louis, Diamondhead, Pass Christian, Long Beach, Gulfport, Biloxi, D'Iberville, Ocean Springs, Gautier, Pascagoula and Moss Point. In 1973, GRPC was designated as the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) to coordinate the regional transportation planning process for both the Gulfport and Pascagoula urbanized areas. Our process is certified by the Federal Highway Administration, which allows GRPC to manage the Surface Transportation Program funds that are allocated for roadway improvements across the region. GRPC staff work closely with MPO member jurisdictions to meet roadway improvement needs, and partner regularly with other agencies and organizations to assist with a wide variety of planning activities that support the quality of life for Gulf Coast residents.
