Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County

About

Story

We offer a “Hand-Up”. Since 1983, Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County, an independent Habitat affiliate and locally managed 501(c)(3), has repaired more than 300 homes and built 62 new homes for families in need. Habitat houses are purchased by low-income families at affordable prices, thanks to volunteer labor, the support of community organizations, donation of land, and Habitat’s affordable mortgages. Habitat families are chosen without regard for race, religion or ethnicity. They must be legal U.S. residents and residents of Ventura County for at least one year.

To qualify for Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program, families are selected based upon on the following criteria: Need: Low and very low-income families currently living in substandard housing; Ability to Pay: Repayment of an affordable mortgage; Willingness to Partner: Investment of 250-500 hours of labor (“sweat equity”) toward helping build their home and the homes of other Habitat families.

Amazing items, often sold at ridiculously low prices, to help fund home building.

I didn't realize this place has tons of nice furniture in addition to building supplies- worth stopping by.

We went there looking for doors and lumber. No lumber, but lots of doors and some building materials. They also have used furniture, chairs and tables. We thought they were priced too high on most things, especially the doors, but I guess they are trying to make as much as possible to help build more homes for deserving people.

Decent selection of reclaimed hardware, furnishings, and other home project related items alongside furniture and cabinets. Getting more crowded recently
