Love it all! Another great Mexican restaurant in St Louis. Great food, great service and family-friendly outside area with playground. Plenty of parking, especially if you know that there is plenty in the back. It was busy Sunday dinner with many families outside, but service was timely and attentive. Draft beer and margarita for adults. Kids meals for children. Few very unique and delicious vegan options.
Wanted to try another new place and this time going with Mexican food.. very large place to go into. Was about to be seated really quickly and while ordering drinks, was told that we could help ourselves to the fresh nachos and their fine different salsa that they had next to them. Great way to start and didn't need to order any apitizers seems we had the chips to munch on while we ordered and waited for our dinner. The main course came out, it was quick time to get our meal when looking around and seeing so any at Hacienda. The food was really good except for the one tamale that came with my 3 Choice combo; everything else was really good, just that the tamale was pretty dry as if it was not fresh. The good news was that everything else that was ordered turned out well. Our service was great as she ensured that we had our meals, checked on how things were going and then she was able to help get our check quickly seems we really needed to leave faster due to another place we needed to be. Camila was very helpful in making suggestions as to what we should try and seemed very knowledgable about everything that was on the menu. She ensured that our drinks were out and ready quickly and was just very happy and hepful the whole time. I would/will come back because she did such a great job in making it a very pleasant stay for dinner.
We were drawn in by the fact that they had a fenced in outdoor playscape. This was the worst dining experience we've ever had. We were told there would be a 15-20 minute wait for a table, but it took 40 minutes as we tried to be more than patient before we finally asked the hostess about our seating. Once seated, it took another 10 minutes for our server to arrive, who immediately tried to upsell us on alcoholic drinks and appetizers. We ordered a sangria, a margarita, and guacamole. After another 10 minutes, the server returned with our drinks but refused to provide a kids' cup for my 4-year-old, claiming they didn't have any. Naturally, my child spilled her drink all over the table, and our server never returned to notice or help clean up. We later saw that every single table outside had styrofoam cups with lids and straws—clearly, kids' cups were available. Must have been too much of a hassle for our server to participate in. After 25 minutes with no appetizer, I asked if it was on its way, and the server seemed confused as if we had never ordered it. Despite trying to be understanding, we were consistently disappointed by her lack of attentiveness. Not once did we receive a refill on our drinks. When our main courses finally arrived—at the same time as the appetizer—the meal was subpar. The guacamole was the only thing that was even worth eating. The salsa was disgusting and tasted like a rip off of the Taco Bell taco sauce not like a salsa at all. The kids chicken nuggets were Dino nuggets, not made in house at all besides for the awful job they did frying them. They were so overdone that they were inedible. If I had the opportunity to even have our server ask us how the food was I would’ve asked her to take them back because my daughter wasn’t able to even eat one of them . Then, my chimichanga that was supposed to be fried was soggy and the rice was so dry that it was inedible as well. This was a complete waste of money and we left feeling hungry and exhausted from the awful experience. I wanted to order a dessert, but instead, our server dropped off the check and started walking away. Not even a simple can I get you anything else? How was your food? NOTHING. Just a quick toss of the check on to our table and she started walking away. Also, without offering us dessert or even asking if we needed boxes for our leftovers. I had to stop her just to request some, I’m not sure why I wanted to bring the food home to be honest we all had more than half of our food left and all of my daughters nuggets left because it was so awful, but going out and spending so much money, I just hate to be wasteful. By that point of having to stop her from running away from our table after tossing the check at us and, after such a frustrating and rushed experience, I decided not to bother with dessert at all. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for good service or a pleasant dining experience. We will never be back. Photo to show outside tables with multiple styrofoam cups, even some adults with styrofoam cups with lids as to go cups!
Lucy, Sierra, and Malyssa gave great service. Happy hour margs are def a NEED. Chili con queso was okay but then Lucy came over and made sure it was corrected and it was amazing! Great service, friendly staff, tequila… what more could you ask for??Food: 5/5
We sat outside and not only was the weather perfect the patio was perfect. The food was great and the service was wonderful. We got done eating and they didn't hurry us out. There were a lot of empty tables because we were there in between lunch and dinner but still they let me and my friend just sit and talk. I had the lime salad which was very good. And the servers were wonderfully nice Wheelchair accessibility: Possible outside but I am sure if you ask they can let you come in a side or back door. They are helpful and nice.
I went there for my birthday today because of their newly built playground, as a mom it’s hard to enjoy a hot meal so figured seating outside by the playground would at least give 5 minutes to enjoy my meal. Well, I regret that decision with every fiber in my body. It took our waitress just over 10 minutes to greet us and another almost 15 minutes just to get our waters and sodas. She seemed busy which was understandable as their patio was a bit crowded. When taking our order she did mention she was newer so I tried to give her some grace. I ordered the nachos as an appetizer, when they came out, they seemed to have been sitting for quite a long time. Our server never brought us plates, and when I asked, it took her way longer than it should have, again, I tried to give her grace understanding that she is newer. Our dinner took almost 45 minutes to come out, at first it didn’t bother me because my friends were joining so it almost bought us more time while she arrived. Well when our food came out, I would be generous if I said my food was luke warm. I ordered the barbacoa tacos and the edges of the tortilla were hard either from sitting under the window lamps toasting, or from sitting out for so long they started to dry out. When I picked up the taco to eat it the tortilla just fell apart. The meat was flavorless and dry. The rice looked so dry, I honestly didn’t even bother to try it. The street corn was just okay, probably the best part of the meal. After I had a few bites, I asked the waitress for salt, it took so long I actually had to ask the other servers around for salt. I ordered chicken tenders for one of my kids and what came out were Dino chicken nuggets, which does not say anywhere on the menu. They were so over done and dry. I ordered a quesadilla for another one of my kids, specified it came with a side, to which I picked rice. The waitress also offered to bring the chicken on the side since my kids have never eaten a quesadilla with meat inside of it. Well it still came out with chicken inside, but luckily they liked. We also got the side of chicken I’m guessing instead of the rice, the chicken looked extremely dry and overdone, no one even touched it. I asked my waitress about the rice but somehow she got us French fries, again probably a better choice than the rice just by luck. Our server kept disappearing for long periods of time. Tables around us kept getting up and going inside to ask for things. Once my friend joined she also had to wait nearly 15 for her to be able to order. At that point they realized a lot of us didn’t eat majority of our food so all they got was an order of queso and water. Well the waters took forever to arrive, and once the queso came she didn’t bother to bring chips for them. They had to go inside and use what I guess is a self serve station with chips and salsa. The manager walked by and asked how everything was but this was when we were having our appetizer, another time he walked by when we had a bunch of plates stacked up and he didn’t even bother to pick those up. So that honestly, to me, was a sign that even if I brought up the issues, he couldn’t have cared less. Tables around us also had plates stacked up and neither the manager walking around or busser bothered to pick up. The lack of team work in that restaurant is just sad. I had to ask my waitress several times for a to go box. Never offered refills on waters or sodas, or if my mom wanted another margarita. She was friendly but the service was just about the worst I’ve ever had. I’ve worked in the industry, and you know it takes a lot for someone from the industry to even consider giving a bad review. The queso dip and the refried beans on the nachos were good which is the only reason I even considered a one star on the food. It was a nice patio with a nice playground but that’s about it. I didn’t even bother to mention the birthday or even ordered dessert because I was just waiting for my friends to get done so I could get as far away from that place.
Went here for a birthday dinner on Sunday night. It was beautiful outside, so we thought dinner at Hacienda patio would be a good time. Long story short, it was not. Food is okay. There's nothing to really rave about. Chances are, if it took you more than 5 minutes to get here, there's probably a better Mexican restaurant closer to you. Service was lackluster. Seems the waitstaff was overworked or understaffed. Our waiter apologized, saying he was serving multiple tables inside and outside of the restaurant. Took a long time to give our order, and to finally receive our food. One of the new attractions of this place is the kid friendly playground. If you were picturing swing sets or a slide, that's not it. They have a small playground with what I wooden pyramids kids can climb on, a wagon to sit in, and a wooden bench that swings. You can't really relax since none of these things are that safe without supervision. Overall, I don't think I'll come back here or recommend anyone try it due to the mediocre food and bad experience I had dining at Hacienda. Kid-friendliness: There's a playground.
Have visited Hacienda off and on for almost 50 years. In my opinion, the food, service and atmosphere seems to have improved on an already great experience. The service is professional and friendly. Waiter was quick to offer suggestions and answer any questions. The food was fantastic, as always. Food came after an appropriate amount of time. Leaving enough time for conversation yet arrived before hunger set in. My friend and I ate lunch in the bar area. The atmosphere was wonderful. Although it was a busy lunch time, all was handled seamlessly. Definitely a great place to meet and eat!
Today I continued my adventure to try every tex-mex restaurant in St. Louis. Not really, but that is where my wanderings ended up, here at Hacienda. I have driven by the Majestic Chicken statue countless times, but tonight was the night I stopped in. Also, I was out voted in the car about what style of food we should have tonight. The parking lot was sufficient, as when we got there on a beautiful Friday evening and they looked almost full, a little search found a nice spot. As we walked in, there seemed to be plenty of tables outside and inside. We were taken to a table inside, but right next to a large open sliding door, so we could clearly see and feel the outside. Drinks and appetizers came next, which were both standard fare; the chips and salas were normal; and the queso with chorizo was good. All in all, solid so far, but nothing you don't find at most tex-mex places. The main event of the night for me was the impossible wet burrito, and my dining companion had enchiladas verdes. The impossible burrito definitely took the cake as being well made and delicious. While I was told the enchiladas were good, The service was decent, but I had to ask a few times for a drink refill. Overall, not a bad stop for the evening. I went home full and happy.
This place has some of the most flavorless mexican food I've ever had, the pork tacos which I confirmed with the waitress that they would be al pastor were colorless, there were no spices and for a $14 plate with only 2 tacos, there was not nearly enough meat ro justify the price and the pineapple was clearly canned. The meat that was there was filled with fat and the only saving grace came from drowning them in the equally flavorless salsa. The waitress was incredibly rude and only brought refills when we asked for themthen she only refilled the water of the person who asked leaving everyone else with just melted ice cubes. She rolled her eyes anytime we asked for anything and very visibly did not want us to be there. As someone who grew up with authentic Mexican food, this is an absolute disgrace.
