My opinion is this has the best tasting food of all the Hackney locations (current and closed). Smaller space with very good atmosphere and service. We all had burgers, including my daughter who is fickle. The 1/2 brick of onion rings were crispy and cooked through, no soft spots. The bottomless fries are also worth enjoying. Worth checking out the original Hackney's again.

I come here often, but the food never becomes hackneyed. The burgers are delicious; beef this well-done is rare. Rye anyone would not like this place is beyond me. Would recommend.

First off, the parking lot at Hackney's on Harms is always packed. The Hackney's location on Harms Road has been around for years. My mom and dad used to go on dates here before they were married (and after). It is old school, which is good. We went here last weekend with my dad who was in town for an event. You can't smoke in Hackney's anymore, but the pleasant aroma remains. I think it's pleasant anyhow, and I don't smoke. That's the first thing that hits you when you walk in the door. Many people choose to eat on the nice patio under the trees with live music, but my dad likes to eat in the cozy dining room. They are famous for many offerings but I think the onion loaf would have to top the list. It is fantastic. The thin rings must get some kind of pre-cooking treatment because they come out really tasty without anything on them. We also got the Hackneyburger with fries and slaw. My late mother loved the slaw more than anything. I'm not a big fan of slaw, so I gave it to my girlfriend who happily accepted and devoured it. We also like Hackney's on Lake Avenue, but this one -- the original -- is very special.

Cool location, set back off the road and almost hidden. The outdoor space was quaint although the presence of two skunks by our table caused us to move indoors. The indoor space was small and mostly taken up by the bar. The staff was friendly overall, but very non-talkative and non-assertive. They didn’t jump in to help us and we had to assert ourselves a bit to get seated and ask for menus. Burger was really good though!

Best hamburger around. Must have the onion loaf. Go there when you want somewhere cozy and familiar.
