WOW! Ashley the innkeeper was Incredibly rude on the phone, and hung up on me before she even knew why I was calling. I announced myself as a fellow business person and so I guess she ASSUMED I was trying to solicit her when I was calling the first time. I called her back and explained that was extremely rude to hang up on me and before I could even tell her that I needed 3 rooms, she said I "interrupted her lunch" - at 1:30pm mind you, and hung up on me again! I had wanted to inquire on the availability for 3 rooms needed for one of my clients and 2 of their staff members coming in from New York that need to be close to Philly for the end of August for a training seminar. I will NEVER give these people any business. If they are rude from the initial phone call I cannot imagine what snobs they are on a daily basis. This was extremely poor customer service and to treat a fellow business person this way is unacceptable on every level. Her assumption and rudeness just cost her 3 rooms for 2 nights! Big Mistake! The response from this reviewer is a lie. She never gave me an opportunity to tell her why I was calling. I had cash business for her and have a training seminar and needed to place three people that have nothing to do with trade. Again, her loss.

We stayed at Hamanassett from January 19-23, 2017 for the first time and do plan to return for more visits. I was searching for a B&B in the area and am delighted to find this Old English Manor style B&B here. It is huge, gorgeous, exquisitely appointed. The rooms are all beautiful with attached baths. The main house has three levels by staircase (very elegant). There are separate cottages, as well. And a horse barn and pasture. Its magical. The rooms are large, very well appointed and stocked with the finest linens and toiletries. The innkeepers are a delight and went out of their way to accommodate all of our needs. The staff is unobtrusive and delightful. Breakfast is gourmet and to die for. We received a surprise upgrade on our room when they found out it was a celebration visit. The innkeepers, Ashley and Glenn, could not have gone out of their way for us any more than they did. Our stay felt like home and I don't look forward to leaving. I highly recommend Hamanassett, especially if you are looking for this style B&B. It is PERFECT for an entire wedding or corporate stay (I am a former meeting planner). Don't miss this magical place.

I first stayed at Hamanassett seven nights in May 2011 with my partner and we felt like we had come home to welcoming relatives rather than being first-time customers patronizing a tony boutique-style historical hotel. Ashley and Glenn could not have been lovelier or friendlier. Hamanassett is an elegant step back in time. Their elegant home, estate really, is beautifully appointed with antiques collected over generations. Staying a full week allowed us a look at all facets of the operation and we had nothing but compliments- for them AND their staff. I had planned excursions to local museums ( like Winterthur ), but my partner didn’t want to leave Hamanassett, preferring to sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast ( absolutely gourmet ), rock in rockers on the porch or wander the grounds. I pondered what the best part was: gourmet chocolate chip cookies, breakfasts worthy of any discerning gourmand, the beautifully decorated suites, extensive DVD collection, free access to both Port and Sherry, or the luxurious sheet on very comfortable mattresses, rising early and reading on the patio with a bottomless coffee cup while listening to the birds singing in the country setting. I couldn’t decide. ALL OF THE ABOVE. I travel the world for my job for weeks at a time and I have stayed at some wonderful 5-star hotels and resorts, but Hamanassett is by far the best accommodation – hands down. No details have been overlooked- maps, restaurant recommendations, favorite breakfast recipes are all at the ready, along with an eagerness to delight the guests. Ashley and Glenn are truly exceptional innkeepers who work hard at maintaining both the property and their guests’ experiences. It’s the small hotel that you won’t want to leave, but when you do, you’ll be promising yourself you’ll return soon. So far, I have returned a couple of times and it only gets better with age.

This was the best trip ever. Staying at the Hamanassett was both enjoyable and relaxing. Ashley and Glenn were the most professional, yet friendly hosts we've met. There is no better "bang for the buck." The breakfasts were over-the-top great and the room was comfortable and expertly furnished. Whenever we stay in the Brandywine area we don't have to look for accommodations ever again. We would always book the Hamanassett. Holly and Joe

We spent out 10th anniversary weekend with Ashley and Glenn. They were perfect hosts and the weekend was wonderful. The breakfast were a gastronomical delight and there was enough of it that neither my wife or I needed a lunch. The facilities and neighborhood were quaint and well kept. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone visiting the Brandywine area of Pennsylvania. I'm sure we'll be back to stay, maybe for next year's 11th anniversary. Regards, Carl & Elaine
