Story

Hamburger King first opened its doors in 1927 by George Macsas and was located in Bristow, OK. His brother, Joseph Macsas, open Hamburger King in Shawnee, OK. The restaurant was passed to Joseph’s son and daughter, William and Malvina Macsas following Joseph’s death. Brother and sister, Mike Macsas and Cindy Macsas Hardin are the third generation owners. The fourth generation can also be seen working in the restaurant!

For as long as I previously lived in Shawnee, I did not get to try it when I lived there. So when I visited family, we made sure to make a visit. Now, I kick myself for not ever going when I lived in Shawnee. It is a quaint little diner where you seat yourself and place your order on a telephone. The orders are brought out to you as nice-sized portions and they did a great job of keeping our drinks filled. Can't wait to go back next time I'm in Shawnee.

The place has really good burgers! That is not a lie! But the plates are kind of small compared to what people are accustomed to. The workers are nice and the place is clean. It's got an old school feel and look which is nice. Would definitely recommend this place for a good burger.

Food was flavorful and well prepared. The service was fast and friendly. Kitschy fun place with lots of history. Prices more than reasonable. Great neighborhood burger joint with nice size menu to choose from.

A very busy place. It was packed, and as it was my first time in, i couldn't understand if you could sit just anywhere or if you ordered at the counter or what. After standing a while, a customer finally told me to sit in any open place. I found a place at the counter and employees walked by me many times without saying a word. After about 7 minutes, a very friendly smiling waitress came by and was very helpful in ordering. I never saw her again. I ate what was a pretty good bowling alley burger with wedges. I don't know what they were made of, but it wasn't potato. They were also battered in something. The meal was hot but served on the smallest plate I've ever seen. Impossible to eat from without making a mess. I ate the burger and left the wedges. As the place filled to capacity, i waited for my waitress. Finally i got up and went to the front where i was told to pay there. Who knew? All in all, it was a kind of surreal experience. Not sure I'd go back.
