Great state park right on lake ontario. Great to bike, walk or just hang on one of their beaches. The camping here is also really nice. Many semi-private spots with a real family feel.

Bathrooms are generally clean, but can be sandy as it is a beach area. Each bathroom has a "Locker room" that I'm pretty sure it's just locked all the time and just for show. Men's bathrooms have the floor reaching urinals so your young child has the benefit of peeing on the floor, that's always fun for them. Also the beaches are typically kept nice and there's plenty of picnic areas and playgrounds. Also camping i guess, if that's your thing.

The rolling hills and beautiful views of Hamlin Beach are possibly the best in Rochester. Area 1 has swings, Area 3 and 4 are swimming, and Area 5 is perfect for picnics and relaxing. Worth the drive to Hamlin!

Awesome park. Great view of Lake Ontario. Dog friendly. There is a gate fee but it's reasonable.

Rented a shelter 1 in October. I was just not impressed with what I got for the money I spent. The staff is hard to get a hold of, always looked incredibly annoyed that you enter the office and interrupted their conversation and all gave inconsistent answers about one thing or another. If you are holding an event and you do not want your guests to have to pay to enter the park, you get a parking pass for them. You have to get the parking pass to your guests before the event to give to the gate keeper. So, you have to mail them or meet up with them before reaching the park. They will not allow you to give the license plate number to the gate keeper, have a sign in of any sort, or even have you stand up at the gate and give the passes to your guests. This was very inconvenient. The shelter itself was set back away from the parking lot, the outside is pretty, the grills are nicely set up and you get a gorgeous view of the lake. However, the shelter had a faint smell of hot dogs when you walk in and was loaded with flies! Not like, 50 flies , but a disgustingly large amount of flies. There was nothing done , not even fly tape, to try and rid the shelter of this. The bathrooms floors were wet and stayed wet all day. I could understand this if bathers were in and out of there, but there were no bathers, because it's October. We anticipated it being dirty, since other people use these shelters, but the surfaces were nasty. We whiped them all down with Clorox wipes and the wipes quickly turned yellow. The fireplaces were a nice touch though. I would recommend the staff be a bit more friendly, approachable, consistent and clean, or do something with, those shelters. The entire time we were there we never even saw a maintenance worker. I would assume, with renting out a place, that management would check in with the peoplerenting the shelters just to make sure they were happy, they knew where everything was etc. Customer service is lacking.
