Short version they first messed up my reservation double booking me and then cancelled my reservation without telling me. They also had unsafe maintenance work. Long version: I have been staying in Florida for the last month working for the government supporting hurricane relief efforts in the area. I flew in from Washington State and as such have been bouncing from hotel to hotel. The majority of my stay was at this hotel and stayed for just short of 2 weeks in total. I requested one additional day after my return from work in South Florida. I scheduled the reservation in person before I left. Immediately after leaving the hotel/checking out I noticed they booked me for the entire week rather than just the one day following my return to Jacksonville. I called and fixed the reservation over the phone and thought things were fixed. 3 days later upon my return I found out they had simply cancelled my reservation. I have the reservation on my Hilton honors app and to which it has the appropriate dates but says late cancellation. The clerk at the desk says this only shows up if it's cancelled within 48 hrs and I made no contact to the hotel in this period. They never called me or emailed me they simply cancelled it. This being a busy game day weekend they couldn't get me a room and instead booked me in another hotel room across town at twice the rate I put in my reservation for. I am also a Hilton silver member but apparently that meant nothing. It is also worthy to mention that the hotel was conducting maintenance work during my stay in an unsafe manner. They were doing work on the upper floors of the exterior of the hotel in a man lift directly above a side entrance. Not only was there no warning signs or 'do not walk here or exit here' there was no over head cover to keep any debris or tools from falling on guests walking out the door. I work construction by trade and this would be a huge safety violation just about anywhere. They also had trash bag like plastic covering numerous walls around the hotel, many of them with fans blowing around them. My initial guess is they had water damage and/or mold they were trying to cover up. If I could give 0 stars I would.

It is under construction so the hallways is scotch tape covered and makes a loud popping noise for every step waking everyone you walk by. The rooms and lobby were clean and had a nice towel sculpture on the bed. Beds were comfortable and no outside noise other than the popping hallway. Room was small for the price so three stars overall. Breakfast was great! Lots of options like yogurt, scrambled eggs, muffins, bagels, toast, cereal, and turkey bacon. Didn't use the gym or pool so no feedback there.

Rooms are very nicely decorated. Desk staff were friendly and accommodating. Fitness room. Has treadmill, elliptical, bike and free ear buds. Hotel is under renovation... so I hope that explains ROACHES in my bathroom and drawer. There are very loud exhaust fans running all night long on 2nd floor. Bathroom not cleaned thoroughly. In another room the toilet overflowed twice. Exhaust fans did not ease the smell. Between the roaches and plumbing problems we asked and were moved to better rooms. Beware of rooms on 2nd floor! Free breakfast buffet had limited choices but it is sufficient to start your day and the food seems fresh.

I stayed here as I was traveling back to southwest florida and it was a horrible experience. The room was uncomfortably hot, the outlets on both lamps didn't work, three different times I heard someone trying to get into my room, and my bike was stolen off of the back of my car during the night. They didn't have security cameras so my bike is a lost cause. I am a very easy to please type of person but this was just ridiculous and I don't think I've ever felt so uncomfortable somewhere. One positive is the front desk staff, they were very helpful and nice.

With a name like Hampton, I expected a little better. Staff was courteous and helpful with around town recommendations to visit but the room needed some much needed maintenance. The beds were ok at best but the bathroom had drywall patches cracking and falling plus the tub surface was cracking and peeling off. The hallways were also lined with dryer fans blowing up the walls all night at full blast making it difficult to rest.
