Clean room. Clean bathroom. Kind staff. Nice breakfast. Sadly the toilet was broken. Instead of a room change the brought a plunger and had me try to unclog the pipes. This didn't work. I stayed in a room for two nights with a Jerry rigged toilet, and no follow-up or help or even a different room.

First I'll review our room. We were given a handicap room, which was fine, it was definitely roomy. However, the beds were pretty uncomfortable (you could feel the springs), pillows were uncomfortable (luckily I brought my own), we found bugs in our room/bathroom, wallpaper was peeling off the walls in the bathroom, shower had HORRIBLE water pressure. Second, I'll review the specific time we stayed there. There was apparently a baseball tournament nearby. One would think if a bunch of rowdy kids were in the hotel, they would be put on the lower floors. But no. These kids were all on the top (4th) floor. Running, jumping, stomping, yelling - not only in the rooms, in the hallway. We were on the 3rd floor, right beneath what sounded like the meeting place for everyone on the top floor. After trying to go to bed at 9pm (we have a young daughter), by 11pm I was calling the front desk to see if someone could PLEASE go up to that room and find out what was going on. A couple of times it sounded like they were going to fall through our ceiling (sounded like they were wrestling). The noise settled somewhat, but continued all hours through the night, including at 4am what sounded like someone falling out of bed. We could hear the drywall crumbling in the walls and the ceiling was actually creaking. It was scary. Third, I'll review the staff. I'll give it to them, they did go upstairs at 11pm and get the kids to quiet down significantly, but they still continued to stomp around until the wee hours. When we asked if we could move to a different room, preferably upstairs (so we didn't have anyone above us), they said the whole 4th floor was full (this was also after we had been told the baseball families would all be checking out that morning). I asked if the family above us was still there, they said yes, I said I have to be moved or we are going to a different hotel. They did not seem to care that we barely slept the night before. I can't see paying $144 a night to be startled awake several times in the night. Long story short, we checked out of Hampton Inn and checked into Holiday Inn Express down the street. SO much nicer hotel, renovated, comfortable, quiet, and we enjoyed the rest of our stay in the Chattanooga area. I was very disappointed in this Hampton Inn, I have stayed at other VERY nice Hampton Inns. This one is obviously in need of some renovations - both physically and within their staff.
