This is probably my favorite place to see a band. Small place, good selection of beer along with their own cocktails, great sight lines and when bands aren't playing, a sweet cat. Lots of fun special events as well so be sure to sign up for their mailing list!
Great dive bar style venue for a small concert. Good sound, good cocktails, good crowd. Like the location in general.
So many concerts here. The Empty Bottle is a Chicago institution. They also have a cat!
As someone who has worked on sets , managed many productions in a commercial, and professional setting, I CANNOT BELIEVE how juvenile and inexperienced this venue's staff is. I watched the staff repeatedly fail at doing basic production tasks such as working with the talent's staff to run a timely show. They turn down simple requests from talent that were easy to accommodate such as known sound issues and over all were difficult to work with. As someone who was a part of the production as the professional animal handler, who has worked with the talent for years in a known animal routine in the production, I was told to "Get in line with everyone else and buy a ticket” to gain access to the venue when all they had to do was go to the green room down the stairs to ask the talent about the whole situation. When it came to getting the animal into the venue, we were also blindsided by the double standard of having an animal there at all. We were told, "People have phobias, people might have reactions." meanwhile they have a cat free roaming in the venue, where food and alcohol are served. What is a hazard is an animal that can cause a very common allergic reaction in a person. This is more serious because it affects a persons' health, where as professionals with an animal for a specific purpose - an act on stage in a controlled environment - was not welcome in the venue, and asked to leave to the objection of the production. I could go on, but, this was just exhausting. To be met with constant attitude of “No" “I’ll get in trouble.” “It sucks to do my job" with no other solutions to the talent when things needed to be done on the fly. Frankly as a professional I really only have one question for the Empty Bottle: Are we running a shitty hipster party where only our buddies are allowed to come in? Or are we managing a venue? As someone who participates in The Scene, this place seems to staffed full of people who are afraid of real punk rock shit.

Awesome experience. Seen Puma Blue and Harvey Dweller LIVE. Probably will be my favorite Venue to visit. Staff was attentive, professional, and sometimes you may even find the band/artist walking around the venue too. Bar: Cash/Card.
Weird little bar with weird little music acts. 'Love this place. Just a bar in a large room with a wee stage on one end. Spot on. Bartenders are fantastic and certainly not afraid of the booze. There's even a pizza joint attached, now. Two birds, one stone.

Empty bottles never make you feel empty when you leave. Quality music, dive drinks, good hangs.
Whoever is booking here has great taste, whenever my favorite bands come through Chicago they're often playing here. Just wish music would start a little earlier, I avoid Empty Bottle shows on weeknights because they're a lot later than other places that I frequent.
