(See update below) Hannaford's in St. Albans is a really nice place to shop. The store is very clean and bright with nice wide aisles. They have a nice selection of organic produce and a decent natural/organic food section. They don't make you play "card games" by making you sign up for "memberships" in order to give you discounts. Their prices are good right off the bat - no membership required or even available. They have a wonderful, polite, responsive staff and management. They are also very supportive of the community, selling used books and giving the profits to various charities. They also have fund raising drives where they will give the proceeds to animal shelters, or soup kitchens, or needy locals. The drives are conducted in a fun, low-key, yet effective fashion. Often with people posting favorite snap shots of their kids or pets on a bulletin board at the front of the store, and patrons can "vote" on their favorites by putting some money or change in jars that have numbers corresponding to the photos, which are also numbered. These displays are fun and eye-catching, but in no way do they pressure anyone to participate. They also sell food boxes to feed homeless and needy people. Again, arranged in such a way that there is no pressure at all. The patrons can see that the boxes are available to buy (donate for) and they can bring up the subject if they choose to. All in all, this is a really nice store, with really nice people and a really good selection of products available to the shopper, including awesome bakery products. Their daily fresh-made croissants are amazing! 2017 11 07 - After many years of promoting our local Hannaford with a 5 star review, I must now dock them two stars. Alas, they too have started playing the dreaded "card game". In order to get extra discounts, I would now have to sign up for a Hannaford card. Very disappointing! These card requirements are an invasion of privacy (how many systems have been hacked in recent years, exposing customers' private information?), and also result in a needless waste of time spent on signing up for the cards, then groping for them every time you check out. Total nonsense! Why can't I just get their best prices like before without having to play these demeaning, repulsive games? Guess I won't be shopping at Hannaford quite as much as before now. I don't do cards and that means their prices to me will be higher. Pity.

Love this store.....just blocks from me here on Enosburgh,VT. Awesome Store. They work well together. Give them or breaks. Make that team what it takes. "Like" the employees" they really try hard to make the store what it is. And I'm not saying that! Words are are a dime a dozen.......Not mine!!! It's my only big shopping store and I'm from Buffalo. Moved here months ago!!! I'm proud of them and will stand by them! Give them an applause and a big Christmas Bonus. Love you people at Hannafords. Great work, great people! Wish you all the best while you re employed!!. God Bless each of you there!!

The only thing I like about this location is that they have certain products that I can't get at a different grocery store. The produce here is not that great with a small selection. I've also tried the Hannaford Togo service and have found that the people that pack your orders up either don't know what certain product/vegetables are or are just plan lazy. They will tell me all the time they're out of this and that. Knowing that they just don't find it or whatever the reason, I always go back in myself and just get what they couldn't find. It saves me some time shopping but drives me nuts that they act like they're out of it.
