I have moved many, many times in my life and this move was without a doubt the worst move I have ever had. Someone from their office came and looked through all the items that would be moved and wrote a detailed list and gave me an estimate. I liked the guy and had heard good things about the company so I gave them a deposit and set a date. About a week before the move I got a phone call from a rude woman asking me to explain what was going to be moved. Explain? I had to go through every item with her over the phone. Didn't I do this already? Hasn't it all been written down? I was dismissed and told I needed to go over it all with her again. My move included a grand piano and I was sure to reiterate this fact. I was sure to purchase the insurance. Moving day arrived and the men come through and started moving. In order to save some money, I was moving many of the boxes myself in my car and had them focus on furniture (as had been pre-arranged). I am busy packing my boxes while they are moving and one of the movers comes to me and says - "Honey, could you run to Dunkin' Donuts and buy me a coffee?" I am in the middle of my move and I am busily packing my boxes. I said no but instead poured him a mug of my freshly brewed coffee with cinnamon and gave him cream and sugar. Soon, I am told that they didn't bring the right board for the piano and they are going to have to go back to the office to get it. Of course, this means that they are taking the truck. So with the truck partially filled with my belongings, two of the guys leave. The remaining guys figure they can't do anything so they kick back and enjoy their cigarettes. Most, if not all of them smoked and they stopped often to have a smoke. It was hot and I brought them lemonade in glasses because that is what I had (remember, I was moving over a few days and packing my own boxes). They came back after about an hour and a half. They then began moving the piano. I was on the second floor of a condo complex. The board broke halfway down the stairs and the piano slid most of the way down to the main floor. I was horrified!! But what does one do in that moment? Tell them to stop and leave? I just walked away and closed my eyes - so upset. Truthfully, they were working hard and it was difficult. But It was still horrifying. The dragging and banging and scraping that I heard was so upsetting. At the end of the move, the piano had scratches and gauges in it, many of my antiques also had the same scratches and gauges in it (my dresser, a sideboard & a desk). They also didn't have the proper tools to take things like my dining room table apart so I ended up having to loan them my cordless drill and bits. They presented me with the bill and it was about $700 more than the estimate. I am a single mom with a limited income trying to make it all work. I had not planned for that. I noticed that they charged me for all the hours from 30 minutes before they arrived since they said that is when they left their office. Their office is about 5-7 minutes from my place. They charged me for all the time that they were searching for a piano board while the rest of the crew sat smoking and drinking lemonade. I was devastated. When I went back to my condo, my drinking glasses had been tossed in bushes and lying on the ground in the parking lot. The whole area around where they had been was littered with probably a hundred cigarette butts. I had to clean up after them. I called them the next day about making a claim on the insurance for the piano and my antiques. The rude woman said look - we don't have time for stuff like that. How about we just refund your money for the insurance and call it a day. Honestly? I didn't want them anywhere near my home or my furniture ever again. I took the money and ran. I will never, ever, ever recommend them to anyone and I work in the real estate business. They come in to my office and drop off notepads and coffee cups and I throw them in the garbage. I will forever tell people to stay away from them.

As a professional mover with a major van lines I can assure anyone that not all moves are flawless. I was to deliver into Harringtons self store and make a 2nd delivery to my clients apt, however my labor didn't show up. This was, as you can imagine, a MAJOR problem. Leo, at Harringtons made calls and got me 3 of the nicest guys I'd ever worked with. they put everything in place properly at both locales and kept a great attitude as well, very careful and fast. the self storage area is very secure, not to mention a great repurposing of an old building. A large THANKS to the Harrington folks for saving this old woman movers move, but also for showing love and pride for your areas past.
