The historic landmark building which houses the restaurant also has a storied past--including ties to notorious gangster Al Capone. We source the finest USDA prime, aged steaks available and cook them to perfection. An incredible bar with loads of history we visited on a Crime bus tour for a few minutes as it used to be a hangout for Chicago gangs. We decided to go back after the tour and had a fantastic evening one of the waiters gave us a quick tour of the building including the speakeasy but the best bit was our waitress Kara she was amazing I went there to enjoy a couple of cocktails but somehow I think I tried most of them! Kara also tailored the cocktails to my taste and chatted with us all night while still managing to keep all her other customers happy If you are in Chicago don't miss this place 100% recommend it.
Outstanding meal. We enjoyed the Chicken Vesuvius and the Pasta with Bolognese. Both were delicious. My husband had to get the key lime pie for dessert and he said it was one of the best he's had. Highly recommend!Food: 5/5
Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse is a one-of-a-kind dining establishment and a Chicago classic. You are immediately immersed in a 1920s atmosphere and embraced with Chicago sports paraphernalia. The kitchen offers delicious food options, spanning from a unique Kansas City strip steak to the restaurant favorite Harry's Chicken Vesuvio. My experience is one that will never be forgotten. The food was exquisitely prepared, and the service was perfect. I want to personally thank Tweed and Steve for making the experience very special. Tweed our server for the evening gave us great menu recommendations, and he has a great personality. Steve was also a pleasure to see, as he served us back in 2019, so it was enjoyable to see a familiar face. Extending my sincerest gratitude. Again, if you are looking for a special place to dine while in the Windy City, consider Harry Caray's. You may just leave the restaurant smiling and saying, "Holy Cow!" Dietary restrictions: There are gluten-free options on the menu. Parking: Valet is my recommended method of parking. The pricing is reasonable, and it avoids any possible complications if trying to self-park.
Our server was absolutely fantastic. The food was delightful. The vibe was exactly what you should want out of a fine dining location with such history to draw upon. Expect to spend money, this is a place you should. The quality is worth the cost. This is not a foofoo bubble plate for $50 this is a quality meal. Yes, even their baseball cake shell gimmick is fantastic and worth the value. I really can't praise this place enough. Parking: You're in the city, walk here, the experience is far better.
This place has been a Chicago staple for many years. I grew up hearing Harry Caray broadcast for the White Sox and the Cubs. Anyway, this place is super cool. The staff were friendly and the customer service outstanding. There was a group of 10 of us and our bill was $460+ not including the tip….we added a 25% tip My food alone was $50 because I ordered an appetizer, main course and had a drink. The food was delicious and served fresh and hot. I had the lasagna for my main course and it was probably the best lasagna I’ve tasted my whole life. I’m not kidding. All in all we had a good time and the place had good vibes. If you want good food and to dine in a place with Chicago history, This used to be Frank Nitti’s Al Capone’s enforcer old home and speakeasy back in the day, check this place out! It’s not cheap but definitely worth the money. Parking: Valet service is available.
What a fun place to dine! The historical value of this restaurant is important, but everything about this restaurant was amazing. We sampled the creme brulee and the Breaking Ball desserts - both are amazing. The meals were incredible. Definitely recommended visitFood: 5/5
The waiter Steve S was knowledgeable. He was much friendlier with every table but ours. The whitefish and lasagna were excellent. Loved all of the sports memorabilia. The man that brought us water and bread was more attentive to us than Steve S. I tipped the bread man as I walked out Next time we will eat in the bar area. It seemed more friendly
My co workers chose this spot. The housemade chips were great. The service was quick. Everyone loved their food. I did not care for my turkey burger. I realized after eating half that this is an Italian spot, don't order a burger. It was totally my fault. I will have to go back and try something else when I come to Chicago.
Story time: I would like to begin with, that Harry Caray’s Italian steakhouse was on our bucket list for a very long time just because we are a huge fan of Harry Caray a legend himself. It was a casual week night and we were in the area so we thought we should grab some steak since we have been to most places near by on Kinzie street in Chicago. We got at the restaurant around 8:30pm for our reservation and immediately seated. We ordered quickly since it seemed like waitress was rushing us as the restaurant closes at 10:00pm fair enough. We are not huge drinkers so we jumped right on food, my bf ordered the steak and I had ordered shrimp scampi pasta and we were sharing a side dish of Mac n Cheese. All the food came at once which we appreciated. He had ordered his steak medium but it was over cooked and salty. We would have ignore the overcooked steak but since it was so salty that it was unpalatable. We took one bite and had to sent the steak back. Mind you my bf was so embarrassed because he has never sent his food back in his entire life. We have been to most iconic steakhouses in Chicago, like Gene & Georgetti, Boeufhaus, Maple & Ash, Gibsons, Chicago Chophouse, are only name a few.. but since we were already in the area and it was a casual low key night, we were shocked that the restaurant like Harry Caray will serve over seasoned low quality meat almost similar to Longhorn. Long story short we had to sent the steak back while we waited another 30 mins for new steak to come back, which was even the worst quality and overcooked again and this time with no seasoning at all . At this point we gave up. We saw servers around us cleaning the tables and started moving the chairs/ tables for closing time so we asked our waitress to get us a check. Shockingly, there was no apology. I have read the previous reviews for this restaurant specifically at this location on Kinzie and it seems like there is an automated response from the Manager replying that they will forward the concerns to the team but no actions have been taken to improve the quality and service for this location. I wouldn’t be surprise that I will get the same automated reply from the manager without any actions. I don’t think team at this location really cares about customer service or any improvement anytime soon. I will keep you posted if I hear anything back from the manager until then it was a huge disappointment in food for such an iconic restaurant like Harry Caray’s.
Absolutely delicious! I was able to secure a table for our party and this place did not disappoint. Wendy took great care of us and was very attentive. Would highly recommend.Food: 5/5
