A Business Improvement District is a means for non-residential property owners to levy and collect special assessments to finance the accomplishment of common goals.
Staffed with a manager, the BID creates a link between, service, retail, civic and social activities. It is anticipated that these efforts will help increase district sales volumes, attract additional business investment, and enhance property values in the district commercial area.

The BID offers two grant programs - the Façade Improvement Grant Program and and the Sign and Awning Grant Program. These programs create an added incentive for property and business owners to make visible changes that impact building facades. The programs goals are to enrich the overall appearance of the downtown.
In addition, the Business Loan Pool Program has been established to help revitalization efforts, increase capital investments and provide support for new and existing businesses in the downtown Hartland Business Improvement District area. The fund was established through a commitment from First Bank Financial Centre, the Village of Hartland and the Hartland Business Improvement District. These organizations have partnered together to promote business growth in downtown Hartland.
