Haslam's is a great book store!  I love browsing through.  My best friend and I can go in separate directions and spend hours and still not see it all!  They have new, used and collector books.  Hard to find books are not a problem.  I love that book store!  Parking can be difficult sometimes, really too bad they couldn't put in some kind of parking deck.  Store is very large and books are wall~to~wall.  Totally enjoyable!

One of the oldest and best-loved bookstores in St Pete. If you've never been, you're in for a real treat! They have both new and used books, all genres. They also have collectable books and hard-to-find editions. If they don't have it in stock, they can always order it for you. They have occasional book signings and other events. The staff is knowledgeable and will give you a map of the place or direct you themselves if you need help finding something. There is also at least 1 resident cat lounging around. I'm not sure if I keep seeing the same one or if there's more than one. (I could just ask but am enjoying the mystery.) I've never gone in and come out empty-handed, quite often with books I didn't know I'd find! I could spend hours there and never be bored. It's one of my top 5 places to go on a rainy day. Or a hot, sunny day. Or any day! Please support these local stores when you can. Amazon is great but it would be a real shame if places like this disappeared.

Haslam's has been around forever for a reason what a wonderful book store. They have every book imaginable on hand with a friendly courteous staff that can recommend books based on your previous reads and your likes your favorite authors and similar authors. They have a wonderful children's section the staff is courteous and knowledgeable on every topic in the store if you special order something you'll have it within a day or two and of course the star of the bookstore is the bookstore Kitty who visits with everyone that comes in Haslam's has been around forever and there's a reason for it.

Bookstores are a dying breed but I hope this one never goes away. It is huge. There are store cats. The staff are super-friendly and helpful. It is bustling with book lovers on Saturdays. I love this place and love spending hours contentedly browsing the racks.

Sorry I can't remember the clerk's name, but he was extremely helpful both on the phone and in the store.  The books I bought were priced the same as the chain bookstore I checked, and I always prefer to shopping independent and local stores whenever possible.  Wish I had time to spend a few hours there today, but I know I'll be back soon to knock off a few more items on my Christmas shopping list.
