I have been a client at Haverhill for over ten years and it has been the most wonderful experience. All the trainers are knowledgeable, patient, and truly care about every horse and rider. The barn management is professional and extremely helpful in every situation. I feel very comfortable knowing my horse is safe and well looked after. The barn atmosphere is so positive and open, making it such a great place for riders of all ages! I highly recommend Haverhill to anyone looking for a high quality facility.

I have been riding at Haverhill for over 10 years, and I truly have only positive things to say about the facilities, management, and trainers. I have trained under both Natalie and Jessica, and both are fantastic, knowledgeable, and patient. Haverhill wants to see their riders succeed and always go above and beyond for their students, clients, and horses. Carol and Jessica care for each horse like it was their own, and they are flexible, accommodating, professional, and easy to work with. I have seen enormous growth in my horsemanship, knowledge, and riding ability since starting at Haverhill, and I still learn something new in every lesson. On top of all of this, the facilities are top notch and are kept very clean and organized. This is no where else I would rather ride!

I have had my horse here for four years, and they have taken great care of him. The board is extremely reasonable, and there is onsite care who check the horses for their shoes and for any injuries when bringing them into the field. While there used to be minimal shavings, the move to the new location and the new stable hands have improved the stalls immensely, and I feel comfortable keeping my horse here indefinitely. The barn has a great atmosphere, and I love all the kids and adults who ride there. Jess has improved my riding skills, both my equitation and my hunter skills. Natalie and Libby are also wonderful trainers.

I only rode at Haverhill for 2 years while I was in college, but I had a great experience. I was a member of the University of Richmond Equestrian Team, but Carol, Jess, and Natalie treated me like a real client. When I qualified for IHSA Zone Finals my senior year, Jess took extra time out of her busy schedule to make sure I was well prepared, offering me extra classes and even took me to train with another trainer in the area. I enjoyed the horses that I rode and all were in good health - many of them still hold a special place in my heart!

I have ridden at Haverhill on their UR IHSA team for the past 4 years, and if I had the choice to ride anywhere else I would have. This is not a good place to ride or board your horse. Stalls have no sawdust so the horses are basically urinating all over themselves. paddocks are in horrible shape, I am terrified to walk the horses out in all of the mud and two horses have broken their legs in the past 4 years. The owner and her daughter are the most unprofessional people I have ever had to deal with. Instead of productive instruction, Jessica Straus says things like "you look look like a monkey, ride better" and then becomes angry with you when you don't win often losing her temper and refusing to provide feedback after trips. I have always had issues with anxiety and one time I had a panic attack before a show 3 years ago and Jessica sent me an email saying that she would "try to move on from my lapse in judgement" . This upset me, but Jess couldn't deal with the issue on her own despite being a 30-year-old woman, instead she had her mother, barn owner Carol, call me and yell at me about how my panic attack was somehow a "lapse in judgement" instead of a medical condition I had to deal with. I later tried to have a face-to-face meeting to resolve the issue, during which Carol put her hand in my face and furiously exited the premises. The only saving grace about this facility is the other trainer, Natalie. Jessica had induced such anxiety and lack of confidence in my riding ability that I placed poorly at almost every show my sophomore year. When I was able to switch trainers and ride with Natalie I immediately began riding better and placed fourth in the nation in intermediate fences in IHSA. I was on track to go to Nationals again my senior year for open fences but Natalie had recently given birth, and afterwards Jessica refused to allow me ride in the indoor ring - the only ring that has a course full of fences in it. After complaining, I was finally allowed to ride in the indoor ring, with only 2 weeks before the zones competition. Perhaps if Haverhill cared at all about the performance of their riders instead of getting revenge for a petty incidence that occurred 3 years prior I would have been better prepared to compete at zones. Of course, that would be too rational for the owners of Haverhill.
