I've updated my review after Hermosa Smiles called me to let me know that the charges sent by my insurer were not an actual bill.

The quality of care and atmosphere at Hermosa Smiles are a treat. The office is clean, the staff are friendly, and the work is done efficiently and with care. My teeth were x-rayed, cleaned, and I had a cavity filled in 1.5 hours. 

I would definitely recommend this office. Parking is difficult, so getting there a little early is a good idea.

Not only did I wait over an hour to be seen by Dr. Oates, I did not leave for another two hours after that for a regular 6 month cleaning. I would sum up my visit to be similar to a high-pressured condo sales pitch. I have HMO insurance and was literally offered every service under the sun (which was not covered by my insurance). Most of the things I have never heard of, so I declined because I have had very healthy teeth during my 28 years of existence. 

Dr. Oates offered a service called "irrigation"--a high pressure water stream to clean along the gum lines. I declined because it was not covered in my insurance, but he offered it anyways free of charge. I have had braces, teeth removed, and oral surgery and I will tell you I have never experienced more pain. I sat in the dentist chair with tears running out because of the excruciating pain and not once did Dr. Oates stop and ask if I was okay. It felt as though the tarter scraper was being scraped along my gum line slowly--so painful. I left the dental office in tears because I was in such pain and felt exceptionally vulnerable since Dr. Oates continued the (optional) procedure despite my being upset. Dr. Oates also hovered at the front desk when they were about to re-book me, though after what had just happened I declined to re-book. 

This experience alone should show you the type of dentist Dr. Oates is. Not only is my comfort level during dental procedures completely ignored, but the professional advice of Dr. Oates cannot be trusted as there are obviously other financial incentives to providing dental healthcare. Making money is clearly more important than providing a sound recommendation for my overall dental health. There are so many other dentists out there, so don't waste your time or money. 

Also, a few months after fixing a cracked filling, my new filling is breaking down again. I asked for an amalgam because it's stronger and that's what was in before and Dr. Oates said he hadn't done that since dental school, but they could still try. Seriously? The last time I checked, fillings (especially amalgam) should be regular procedures. This is concerning.

I go to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned. I want a clean place. I want an efficient place. 
I want to get in, get out, no hassles and leave with my teeth (and gums!) feeling clean. 

I've been going here for just over 2 years now, and every experience I've had has met those criteria. 
The "bonuses" are the friendliness of the staff (from front desk to the dentists and dental assistants). 

I laugh when I read some of the negative reviews. Maybe if it was **that** painful of an experience (literally), >YOU

This is by far the best, most thorough, and most technologically advanced dental office I have ever had.  Everyone is professional, extremely well-trained, and highly attentive to my needs.  I am a very satisfied client, and would recommend this office to others without any hesitation

I have nothing but awesome care. I have been through some rough dentist. Dr. Azaria ( not sure if I spelt it right) is so kind and gentle. The Endodontist is great and so gentle....Jenny at front desk is so effecient, kind and sweet!
Hygienist was great got the job done quick....thanks all!!
