This was my first visit to their new location. The space and ambiance here are delightful, yet I couldn’t help but reminisce about their old spot. It feels like something special was lost in the transition. The old location, despite its size constraints, was meticulously arranged to maximize every square foot. Dining at the counter and watching the artful preparation of coffee made it a unique experience. At the new location, the space has expanded significantly, featuring both regular dining tables and counter seating. The menu has also grown, offering a wider variety of food and drink options. Nostalgically, I chose to sit at the counter, but the experience wasn’t quite the same. We ordered two entrees and a dessert with ice cream, and all arrived simultaneously. While the service was prompt, it felt somewhat rushed. We ended up starting with dessert because of the ice cream, and by the time I got to my omelet, it was lukewarm. I truly wished they could have preserved some of the craftsmanship from their old location, but perhaps it's inevitable when scaling a business. Efficiency seems to take precedence. Don’t get me wrong—it’s still a great spot for brunch. However, if you were fond of their old spot, be prepared for a different experience here.
Had a lovely lunch with a friend on Friday. We ordered three dishes—the berry pancakes, tamago sandwich, and omelette with tomato sauce—along with two teas. The food was fantastic; we indulged in quite a bit for just the two of us, but it was worth it to sample everything. We sat at the counter, and the service was great. As a big fan of Osulloc tea, I was thrilled to find it on the menu. I’ll definitely be coming back.
Loved my brunch experience at High-collar! They have a perfect mix of sweet and savory dishes for sharing. I especially loved their omurice, with the pancakes also a very close second. Their teas were good and fruity and the service was great. Came during a weekday and made a reservation, but you could very probably just walk in. Would come again!
The food fell far short of my expectations! To be honest, it was worse than cafeteria food, which was incredibly disappointing. We were so unimpressed that we even decided against trying dessert. The spaghetti dish was particularly underwhelming. It came with just four small sausages and was drowned in ketchup—definitely not what we were hoping for. The egg sandwich was also quite mediocre, lacking any real flavor or appeal. On the bright side, the atmosphere was nice, and the service was great, which is why I’m giving it two stars instead of one. However, despite the pleasant ambiance, the poor quality of the food means I won’t be coming back.
Had some very classy drinks in a very classy atmosphere, very fitting for Investigators and Teamates. Very great service. It's not a "let's hit the club" bar but a "let's have a chill night and try some cool new drinks and catch up with each other" bar. 20/10 would come back and drink their coffee gent againFood: 5/5
Beautiful and delicious food, efficient service and wonderful ambiance. My group of friends made a reservation for 8. Unfortunately upon being seated, we were told we would only have an hour. For our group size, this made everything feel rushed and hard to enjoy the food and company. It's understandable that they need to be able to keep business flowing, but they should have more flexibility. Each dish was beautifully plated and their menu has a wide spectrum of sweet and savory dishes. All the different teas were flavorful and just the right temperature. Other than being rushed, the service was good and efficient. Pricing felt reasonable too.
Good food in a modern zen atmosphere. The tenmado and kani cream croquettes were the highlights of my meal. Both were cooked perfectly and balanced with flavor. The hamburg steak was decent but lacked depth and seasoning. The hojicha creme brûlée was delicious, though the sugar topping was slightly hard. Overall, I enjoyed this spot but it fell a little short for me.
Loved the old fashioned here— it's not thick or syrupy because of the Japanese whiskey. The fruit chu-hi's have jam in it so are on the sweeter side, but aren't too artificial. If you care about this type of stuff, they use great ice.Food: 5/5
So cute cafe really gives the vibe of traditional Japanese! I personally love the food, tastes incredible! And the straws are earth friendly unlike some cafes! Metal straws instead! Although it’s a bit uncomfortable near the back I think the kitchen vent gives a rumble around the walls! Other than that me and my family loved it!
Definitely make a reservation, this place is super popular! We came for lunch on a weekend with a res and overheard that the wait for walk-ins was 2-3 hours. They have a great variety of specialty coffees, which were all so fragrant and distinct from each other. The famous hotcakes were tasty, but too sweet for me to finish the whole time; I recommend sharing them instead. The katsu sandwich was AMAZING, with the pork being perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside, but it was pretty small. The prices are steep for the portion sizes, but it's still a nice visit because of the cozy atmosphere.
