We are from Texas, and chose a local restaurant to satisfy our hunger. Started with the onion rings, which are good if you like the flaky kind-the sauce they serve with them is the best part. My hubby ordered the fish and fries, I got the ribs and beef combo plate. 

Firstly, the fish was good enough. Seemed like a gourmet shipment of frozen fish, that they popped in a deep fryer. I'm not picky, and it was still tasty, so I couldn't complain. 

I'm not entirely sure what to expect from Missouri BBQ, and maybe that's why I was slightly disappointed, but the ribs were very dry, like they were sliced before being smoked rather than after. Very odd. The BBQ sirloin was nearly like roast. Delicious enough, just not what I had anticipated. The little sauce bottle on the table was tasty, though thin for BBQ sauce if that's what it was.

Food was delightful. 

The star is lost in the setting and atmosphere. Walking in, the place looks like a nice establishment. A place you might go on Prom Night. But we were not dressed as such, and got a couple looks from other patrons and wait staff, even though both were wearing similar clothes, t-shirts and shorts or jeans. I felt generally underdressed and therefore uncomfortable, though our pleasant waitress made it better. 

Will definitely be a place to remember!

Good place for BBQ beef ribs. These are not fall-off-the-bone smoked ribs. These are wood grilled beef ribs that pack some serious flavor and pair perfectly with the vinegary BBQ sauce. IMHO, the sauce is the best part, and I bought a gallon to bring home. Worth a stop for those on a journey for good BBQ.

Nomally the ribs are except jut this time they were a little tough. The flavor is out of this world. Staff I normally deal with are friendly and effecent.

Hickory Log is a restaurant that prides itself on its smoked meat. I attended a dinner party later night and in my experience I set my expectations high. This is because, usually the high-end people who live in this town, are the only ones that can afford to pay their prices. Ok, back to my experience. The staff, they were very attentive and right there whenever they were needed. My reasoning behind giving such a low rating, as I explained earlier, this establishment is supposed to be known for their meats. Now the brisket was bland, but no seasoning. The on thing about a smoke house, is 9 times out of ten, are know for their ribs. To describe the taste would be easier to just have you fill your mouth with oil and fat. That's the only taste my wife and I could taste, which by the way, took a couple of hours to get the awfulness out of our taste buds. The baked beans, were ok, just had no flavor. Seems like a trend with all of their food so far. NO SEASONING!
