Outdated but improving, either way janitorial department needs a total overhaul. Aside from how it looks its one of the best places for your traumatic needs and your day to day health needs. There's usually a long wait time but in the end its Always WORTH the WAIT for Quality Care. If it wasn't for its uncleanness and also some of the staff's want or need NOT to do their job, it would have received 5 Stars...

For a hospital in West Oakland, I felt pretty comfortable, and I was very medicated though.i had my own room. Considering what it could be like

I would like to thank the lady doctor in E.R. and male doctor she was training under for taking care of me Thursday evening. My entire right side was hurting really badly from my lower back down to my toes. I don't remember the pain killer shot she told the nurse to give me, because I was in so much pain. But by the time I got back to my man's Big Rig it had took 80% of my pain away. By the time I woke up Friday, I was just feeling soreness in my right hip and knee. By Friday night I was pain free!!!! I don't live in California and I'm truly thankful for them taking care of me. There's no way I could've endure that pain all the way to NC!!! Actually I want to thank the entire staff in E.R. from the young male security guard with braids who jumped up and got me a wheelchair, the young lady in registration, the triage nurse, to the doctors. At first I wasn't sure if I went to the right hospital, but I'm glad I did!! I'm now on my way home pain free!! I shall do exactly what she told me to do to finish healing myself. Kudos Highland Hospital!!! 😍😍

Very nice and experienced physicians, kind nurses and patient customer service!! If I could give them more than 5 stars, I wouldn't hesitate!! Stay blessed guys, your awesome!!!!!

I heard horrible stories of their customer service that might be true, but one of my family members stayed in the acute care unit for 10 days and everyone was great to us. He was admitted at the ER and people in there wasn't as gentle as the acute care people, but honestly in the 1hr I was there I saw them going  through a lot so I don't blame them for not being on a 100% positive attitude. Overall we had a good experience.
