My name is Liz Ellis. I understand that you are a busy person with a tough responsibility of keeping many people safe. I do not know if you are an animal loving person but considering your profession, I believe you must care about people. Considering the tumultuous climate of recent politics and growing disconnect between officers of the law and the people they serve, I want to share with you a moment of interaction with one of your officers. My dog, woke me up with crying, exhibiting signs of bloat. I threw on my boots and a sweater and left the house immediately. I was driving as safely as possible not speeding hoping to make it to the emergency vet on Indy Blvd and Ridge Road. That red light while turning left takes forever. I kept watching the lights change while my dog is panting and crying in the back seat. I fully admit to creeping forward anxious, tearful, scared. One of your officers pulled up behind me and through a very loud intercom stated, "You are way past the line; There's a white line there for a reason!" Then, when the light turned green, continued to stay exactly behind me. I turned immediately again to get to the Emergency Vet. He just continued on. I'm not trying to criticize this officer but I will not be grateful to him for not pulling me over. I just feel that an already stressful and emotional situation turned into an emotional crisis by what I personally perceived as intimidation, at that moment when I was already scared for a member of my family. But next time, maybe consider pulling up next to someone asking if everything is okay? (There was no one else in any of the lanes) instead of asserting dominance by staying out of view to point out a traffic error in a condescending way. Next time don't ride my bumper like you have intentions to pull me over. We do not make anyone safer by condescending others.
