Highland is a great school!  There is a wonderful sense of community and care for each child.  The school offers so many different experiences for children of all ages to learn and grow.  We have experienced instructors and administrators from the lower school to the upper school.  Each step of the way they help the students develop into curious, educated and well-rounded learners.

We wanted to send our (at the time) two year old to a private school that he could go to from preschool through 12th grade. We were so excited to find Highland! Everyone in the beginning was so welcoming and nice- we thought we had found a great fit. Long story short, our son was having a really hard adjusting. He was having some behavioral issues (keep in mind he had just turned two at the time so this was completely normal) The teachers and the director of the Lower School had NO idea want to do with him and made me feel horrible about the situation. They even went as far to suggest a weighted vest and for him to go see a psychiatrist. I couldn't believe it. We pulled him out immediately. We will never send him back here. (Side note- the 2 year old class is required to sit in circle time for 30 min at a time without getting up or they get in trouble....)

We made the right choice for our sons with Highland.  They look forward to school each day to learn and have fun at the same time.  The community atmosphere is helping to shape their character in addition to the academics. It amazes me how the teachers are able to tie all subjects together while working on projects (He doesn't even realize, he is learning!).  The E-portfolio system allows me a peak into what he is learning and making each day!  The collaboration at Highland makes for a well rounded, happy student!

We love the Highland experience.  Our children can truly be themselves at Highland.  The teachers truly live up to the Albert Einstein quote, “It is the supreme act of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.”  Each middle school student is required to play a sport.  This experience led my older child to play sports in high school she had never tried prior to middle school.  There are so many opportunities to grow as a student not just academically but in character and citizenship.  We are blessed to be part of the Highland family.

After moving from a public school system in a different state, my children have thrived at Highland.  Each child has been supported in ways that are uniquely suited to his/her strengths.  In addition to strong academics, Highland has a strong culture of community.  It was this sense of community that lead us to choose Highland for our family.  Our children have blossomed as students, public speakers, athletes and involved citizens.
