I loved this park. Quite a few miles of trails. The only reason I’m giving this place four stars is because there was a crackhead lady running the admission office and she would not except my state park pass for some incoherent reason. But I did not let a few bucks ruin it for me. We had a great time! And if it’s crowded you can walk a mile down the longer trails and there will be a considerably less amount of people.

We loved this park. RV sites are great, lots of shade and some sun. We recently purchased bicycles to get around and the trails for bicycles were plentiful. Beautiful scenery. Quiet campground. We will definitely come back here!

This is a beautiful park with lots of great hiking. We spotted all sorts of wildlife, including gators. Camping was great and included a fun Friday evening tour by a park ranger. I would have given a 5 star rating except the cafe and rental people were super rude.

I really want to give the park 5 stars but I can't with the current issues. The camp grounds, hiking, and canoeing are all great and worth the ride to the park but if you are expecting to use the pool or see Fort Foster you can forget about it. The pool, rental, and concession area are ran by some private company. It is currently April and 75 degrees out yet the pool is closed... Whenever the pool is open the company that runs concessions frequently closes it for any particular reason so finding a time when it's actually open is difficult. If you call and ask ahead if the pool is open you will be greeted by a very rude concessions employee on the other end. Now on to Fort Foster. The park used to have daily tours where you would have to take a tram (if the one Ranger with a CDL happens to be working) or a van which fills up quickly across the street to the Fort for a Ranger led tour. So instead of just stationing a Ranger on site at the Fort and having people drive themselves there they used this nonsense system. Well they have made it even worse, now you can only visit the Fort on Thursdays at 10:30 AM... So you may ask yourself "why can't I just go to the Fort myself with out a guided tour like I can do at most other national and state historic sites?". According to the park service the historic site is too sensitive to not have ranger led tours. That's all well and good but here's the kicker, the Fort is not original it's a replica... If something is damaged it can be repaired with materials from any hardware store and nothing of historical significance is lost.

Still a great park and campground. But campground is really starting to show its age. Picnic tables are all in desperate need of replacement. Dump station, while fully functional, needs a major upgrade. Park buildings all in various states of disrepair. Pool was green.
