Hiram High School

Story

Hiram High School is a public high school in Hiram, Georgia, United States.HistoryThe history of a school in the Hiram area goes back a century. The earliest records list teachers working between 1907 and 1913, when a new three-room schoolhouse was built in Hiram. The school burned in 1922. Two years later, in 1924, a new school was built on the present location of Hiram Elementary School. In 1927, C. T. Norton became the principal and the school enrolled 177 pupils, the largest class so far. At that point Hiram was one of just 82 Georgia high schools which were accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. In 1930 the nearby Vernon School was consolidated with Hiram and a steel-body bus was operated to bring the students from the Vernon community. The next year, in 1931, C. E. Landrum became the principal, and placed a previously missing importance on sports for the school.Over the next 24 years, the old school was regularly expanded to account for increased population in the area. In 1955, an entirely new school was built and remained in operation until 1968. From 1938 to 1968, the school's enrollment expanded from 350 to 1000 students. In 1968, the Paulding County School District consolidated Hiram into Paulding County High School.Hiram remained without a secondary school for 31 years. In the late 1990s, the present campus was built on a new site one mile to the west of downtown Hiram. The new Hiram High School first opened for the 1999-2000 school year. In the following years the school has seen numerous expansions and changes, such as many new sports fields, a new fine arts building, a secondary gymnasium, and a separate freshman building. In 2010, a large two-story facility that added 35 new classrooms to the school was completed on the previous site of the freshman building, allowing the large trailer classroom community (nicknamed "The Village" among students) to be removed. At present, Hiram has 1,763 enrolled students and graduates about 400 students each spring.

The school is a absolute nut house. The past 3 years there has been students fighting in the hallways. Smoking weed in the bathroom. Or having sex behind the school or in the bathroom. There was actually one case where a boy snuck into the girls bathroom through the Roof and took pictures of them. The teachers and staff aren’t the best either. There are some who actually care and are willing the to help but the rest are absolutely mean and don’t care at all. They either punish the innocent or do absolutely nothing. And don’t even get me started on the food. There’s no telling how many roaches were caught back there and I’ve seen people get sick and stay up at the nurses station for hours. If you care about your child even the slightest. Do not take them here unless you absolutely have to.

This high school needs to get a better hold of their students. The students just take videos whenever they want to and that is not okay. I had another student do it today and I don't like being video. He thought i wasn't going to see him doing it but I cough him!!!

Hiram High School's discipline will most often be out of control and definitely should be looked at to be revised for a better and fluent High School experience. Likewise, if a student is late for class for even a second, they usually will receive ISS. In addition, this aggressive system that Hiram follows will also often treat all cases of discipline the exact same. The case with the student taking pictures of students in the bathroom happened to be treated less severely as it should have; this student only received two weeks of OSS. With Hiram's out of balance aggressive discipline system, it is often hard to treat Hiram High School seriously.

This school is terrible, the teachers are demons who give way too much work in a week and don't even get me started on the cafeteria, they can't even make sausage right. Its always burnt and the French toast taste terrible. Do you know how many roaches I killed in the CAFETERIA? I SHOULD BE GETTING PAID FOR HOW MANY I KILLED IN MY 4 YEARS. YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN HAVE ROACHES IN THE CAFETERIA. THIS SCHOOL IS NASTY AND DIRTY DON'T COME.
