The gate is pretty cool. The rest of the district is not so cool, pretty quiet and uneventful place. The uwajimaya saves this area and is a great grocery store. Definitely be careful around the light to not step into anything gross. There are mystery puddles, bird feces, and sometimes a random dumping ground of food for the pigeons.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Finally got to see in person and it's very cool. Lots of restaurants and stores nearby. Uwajimaya is about 2 blocks away and has lots to see inside with good Japanese snacks and candies.
It was a bit busy around some of the shops in Chinatown, but overall it was pretty quiet for a Sunday afternoon. If you’re looking for Chinese and other Asian food, it might be a good place to visit. However, there isn’t really much of a culture to see or anything historic other than the gate. It’s walking distance to Union Station where you can take the bus/train.
Seattle's Chinatown-International District, while a destination I had looked forward to exploring, unfortunately fell short of expectations, leaving me with a mixed impression. Anticipating an experience akin to the vibrant and bustling Chinatowns like the one in San Francisco, I was instead met with an atmosphere that felt markedly different. As the day transitioned to evening, the area began to feel increasingly uneasy, detracting significantly from the overall experience. My visit was brief, primarily due to the growing sense of discomfort as night approached. While I did manage to enjoy some delicious coconut buns, the sketchiness of the surroundings overshadowed what I had hoped would be a more engaging and pleasant exploration. This visit was a reminder that every city's cultural district has its own unique character and challenges, and Seattle's Chinatown-International District, in this instance, presented an environment that didn't quite align with my expectations or comfort levels.
The Chinatown gate is definitely a indication that you have arrived into Asian town in Seattle. Is it a tourist spot? Maybe, if you just want to see it in passing. But I would not go out of my way to go and see it. There are a few cool Asian shops around here so you may just happen to be in the area to take a picture of it.
The entrance of the Chinatown is a neat sight to see. Large numbers of restaurants as well as some business inside. atmosphere is nice and clean. Great attractive must visit for sure.
Beautiful place, the atmosphere in the park is wonderful, see the Chinese culture, see them play, share, exercise, very beautiful culture and place. It has a restaurant, shops, everything.
A large number of restaurants. I suggest to visit ones that are busy or standing in line those of Asian culture. These turned out to be the best. They also have a busker of the day which on our day played Chinese instruments.
A cool Chinese style gate just a bit disappointed with the surroundings building around the gate look a bit run down
Lion dances and fireworks were some of the entertainments to celebrate this year Lunar New Year 2020.
