BUYER BEWARE-   Funny how all these 5 star reviews all popped up in last week and all reviewers only have 1 review.  Huh, sounds fishy...  Please read all reviews on YELP before considering a purchase from this compulsive liar.    I attempted to purchase a piece of his art in July of 2016 from his shop in Laguna and stupidly paid for it upfront and was told they would ship in the following week. A month passed yet the artwork never arrived.  I attempted to contact Dave for an explanation at minimum a dozen times leaving messages each time until finally his mailbox was full, yet he never once bothered returning my call.  At that point I decided to give up on the art work and contacted my credit card company to have them cancel the transaction for a refund only this time my credit card company contacted me to say they would need additional information because the store owner(Dave) was challenging the cancellation stating the original transaction was legitimate and that he had delivered the merchandise.  Wow- I was literally shocked by this given I'd never received so much as a return phone call let alone the art work.  I once again attempted to reach out to him to inquire why he would attempt to challenge my refund and he apologized saying he's not sure why i didn't receive the art work and that he hadn't  returned my calls "because he was busy" and asked if I still wanted the artwork.  Months had passed and I was so frustrated with the situation I let him know I was long since over the artwork and simply wanted my $210 refunded.  I asked why he would challenge my attempt at getting a refund through the credit card company and he explained that was done by mistake.  I asked him to please simply refund my money which he promised to do he said he just needed time to contact his credit card processor.  Over the next 6 months it was one excuse after another.  He tried claiming he had no way of refunding my money and to please try again through my CC company and this time he would make sure not to challenge it. What kind of legitimate business has no way of refunding customers?  I tried going through my CC company once again only to find out that I couldn't challenge the again do to the amount of time that had elapsed.  I reached out to Dave explaining it had been almost a year and I didn't care how I just wanted my refund.  He promised he'd have it resolved by the following Monday.  Weeks passed and I was still getting the run around so I once again asked him to please just send me cash or a check.  He promised he'd send it and even went as far as to show me a FedEx tracking label with my name and address saying it would be there in a few days.  Once again weeks passed so I typed in the tracking number and surprise surprise, it stated nothing had ever been shipped.  At this point I realized just what a low life I was dealing with and once again reached out to confront him.  I mean what audacity this guy has to go as far as to show me a printed tracking label with my name on it after a YEAR had passed and he STILL HADNT SEND ME MY REFUND.  Per the usual , Dave played dumb saying he didn't know what happened and that he would have it sent by the end of the day.  To my surprise the package actually showed it was in transit.  I thought to myself "could it be that this 12 month nightmare could actually be over and I would finally get my refund"?  Even with the tracking I was only cautiously optimistic because after all, this is Dave "con artist" Hobrecht we're talking about.  Well today June 12th, 2017 the FedEx package with my refund check arrived only I went to open it and was my refund in there?  Of course not. Instead, Dave"the con artist" Hobrecht decided to take it upon himself to finally send me the art work(only it was a different piece that was damaged and in terrible condition) I made it clear I was no longer interested in.   None of which matters because I made it clear I didn't want the art work.  In short, RUN FOR THE HILLS BEFORE BUYING ANYTHING FROM Dave or else risk getting RIPPED OFF.
