Story

Hoffman's Bistro and Patisserie is a family owned and operated restaurant that has been located in downtown Santa Cruz since 2001. You may have recently seen Hoffman's featured on the Food Network's hit TV show "Restaurant Impossible" with celebrity chef Robert Irvine! Hoffman's is a full service dining restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Ed Hoffman is world famous for his incredible pastries and cakes (his SCONES are his specialty). Eggs Benedict is a breakfast staple with "Eggs Ben-Addict" t-shirts to boot! Come in for dinner where we feature Live Jazz 7 nights a week and our new dinner menu is something not to be missed!

The service was AWFUL. I had to go on three times and just ask for someone to bring menus and coffee to the table. When the coffee finally came, i asked if we could have sugar, creamer, and silverware  (which should've come with the water or coffee) and they never came back with anything. I had to go inside two more times to get and carry everything. There was hardly anyone there, so being busy is not the excuse. When the waitress was finally alerted to our presence, she did a good job. But for the majority of our visit I was our server because nobody would help.  The food was pretty good, but I've had much better breakfasts in my life. All in all it wasn't worth the trouble of all of the effort.

We love coming here for the breakfast special  $6.95 at least once a week. My husband likes to pin me down, cause he craves their breakfast burrito w/ homefries. I like the pancake, egg and sausage, unless I'm more in the mood for oatmeal. Great people and comfortable booths! Support local business downtown!

Patio dining with heaters of you need them. Great for people watching & dog watching. They serve breakfast until 2:00.

Horrible service from our waitress, will not be back. Two orders were switched, one with eggs over easy and one over medium, which seems to be an easy fix..not so with our waitress. 20 minutes I tried to get her back to the table. Finally, I was able to ask the waitress to correct my order and bring me eggs over medium, she was visibly annoyed, eyes rolling. Everyone at my table had already finished eating. The plate she brought back to me, the eggs were way over cooked and hard. I have no doubt that she had instructed the kitchen to prepare them like this. Twice she came back to the table and made a scene by being loud and obviously annoyed at me for having returned my order. I felt like she punished me by further messing up my order and embarrassing me in front of my family.

A staple favorite, when your looking some some form of eggs this is the place to go. If you do feel adventurous and want to try something non eggie then I highly suggest trying the French Onion Soup.
