Story

Those focused on healing, wellness, and empowerment near Morro Bay know they can go to the Holistic Movement Center for complete support. While our studio is home to many classes and events, we’re also home to a community of inspiring individuals, some of whom have been with us since we first opened in 2002. We were founded out of a love for yoga and have grown over the years to include rejuvenating holistic techniques too, like reiki and massage therapy. According to the owner, "I envision HMC being a center for healing, wellness, and empowerment.” A relaxing studio like ours welcomes people at every level and encourages them to unite both their minds and bodies one breath at a time.

Attending Val's classes at this yoga studio was a life-changing experience. Coming from New York City to visit my mom for 3 weeks in Cayucos, I was feeling extremely stressed. I have practiced yoga in the past in New York and have heard about how extraordinary it can be but I was never inspired. Val is the most amazing instructor- traditional, incredibly articulate, inspirational, calming and wise... she is a unique and rare teacher in this field and anyone lucky enough to participate in her classes is truly fortunate. I only wish she would take a sabbatical in New York City! I am trying to find anyone who comes close to her and it is impossible.

I love HMC...it got me started on my yoga journey, thanks to Valentina.....now there's a new owner, Silvia. She is a beautiful soul. Warm and caring. Besides yoga they do great massages and awesome workshops. I just attended the, Sound Bath Healing by Sean Levahn, and it is truly an amazing experience. It's a must to do on your list of things to do. Also, There's a new yoga instructor and her name is, Khristine. She's formally from San Francisco. Do I need to say more. Oh yes I do.. She studies once a year in India with her master teacher. Her class is strong and powerful. You might have thought you were doing your poses correctly, but with her guiding you in the proper posture/form, you will notice a difference. It's a feeling of, wow! Now I feel it. You will come away with a feeling of fulfillment in your daily practice. I hope the word gets around that Khristine is now here in Morro Bay. I've spoken with some members who are in love with her and so happy HMC has her. Thank you Silvia for hiring her. Once you take her class, you will be coming back for more. Do a drop in class. It's worth it. She teaches Saturday at 11:30 and Wednesday at 10:00AM. I believe the Wednesday class is going to be a Yin mix. It's some Vinyassa with an ending of Yin. Perfect. The best of both worlds in one class. I hope to see you there and you enjoy Khristine. Don't look for on a mat, she doesn't use one. Now to be fair, there are other instructors that are great too. I'm speaking about Khristine since she's new to the area, and her style is very different from what you will find in Morro Bay. I'd like people to know of her. This is a spiritual intense practice.... Now I'm doing/practicing yoga..Namaste 🙏

I found this yoga center to be a welcoming, clean, well-lighted place. The yogi is very friendly and accommodating. She is one of the best teachers of any discipline that I have ever met. She is essentially a master teacher of yoga, who lives, loves and breathes yoga. Having been a trained, certificated teacher for many years and possessing a Master's degree in teaching and curriculum development, I am uniquely qualified to make the judgements I have stated above. And the rates are very reasonable, in case you were wondering. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

The instructors here are extremely knowledgeable, and the classes are paced just right. I injured my knees while running. I was given special instructions and the Yoga instructors really looked out for me. After a few weeks, I felt better than ever. I am so glad I found this Yoga studio!

The Holistic Movement Center lives up to it's name and then some. 6 years ago a friend recommended Valentina after I complained that I just couldn't move like I used to and it was getting worse! After one practice I was hooked - Val took her time to address my specific problems and desired outcomes. Besides yoga sessions, I also utilize the massage therapists and I've gone on 3 adventures with the group - wonderful experiences. I give the Holistic Movement Center an A+++++ rating!
