Our story began in Fitzgerald, GA in 1962, in a make-shift storefront in the back room of my grandparents house. A young couple, a few small kids, a container of flour, a little sugar, and a big dream. Cecil and Lucille Holt only dreamed at night however; their days were filled with baking and selling their sweets they had made. They moved to Douglas in 1965, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Cecil and Lucille's oldest daughter, Cindy, married Paul Spivey in 1981. Shortly thereafter, Paul went to work for Cecil in the bakery and continued the family's legacy for the next 35 years.
I, Garrett, worked in and around the bakery practically all my life. I worked part time while in high school, and moved to full time in 2006. I spent the next 10 years learning the ins and outs of the family business. While working in the bakery, I met the love of my life, Kacey. We were high school sweethearts, and were married in 2009. We now have 2 young sons, Landon (3) and Grayson (2). I hope one day they will continue the legacy that my grandfather, my father, and I have built for them, and become 4th generation bakers.
The bakery business is far more than a job for me, after being a Christian, a husband, and a father, it is who I am. Kacey and I are so excited to bring Holt's Sweet Shop to Waycross and surrounding areas in the Spring of 2017!
