Great cemetery, I agree with what others have said about the staff being very helpful. I used to go here every Sunday and holiday with my mom as a little girl . My father was buried here in 1965. Now I go to visit my mom who was buried with my dad here 3 years ago. The only problem I have are the hours. I drive from New Jersey about a 45 minute ride but it has been hard getting there during the week now that it is closed on Sunday.because of my work schedule.

My daughter and I visited the cemetery on Wednesday, December 27, 2017. The cemetery was beautiful and well-kept. I was driving a rental SUV, and accidentally got it stuck on one of the granite row markers! As the sun set on a 22 degree day, we called AAA for assistance and were horrified to learn that the gates were closed and locked with us trapped inside! We had to call 911 to get the police to open a gate for us to get a tow truck in and extricate ourselves. I was amazed that they never bothered to check that the graveyard was empty before they locked it up. A truly horrifying experience.

My expierence Visiting my Family at Holy Cross Cemetery was great one , after I have made other attempts since the 1990’s to find the Cemetery and the one time I found it , they were closed because it was 7 pm .and that was in 1994 coming from the Poconos with my wife going back home to New York since all my family later settled in N.Y. My family came from Ireland back in the early 1920’s to Philadelphia and my great grandmother died in 1926 at age 34 yrs old imagine from appendicitis when my grandmother was only 7 yrs old . My greatgrandfather moved his Family to Manhattan , N.Y. throughout the years my family would have to take the train from N.Y to Holy Cross Cemetery to bury family members and the last one being in January 1965 . I found the grounds of Holy Cross to be beautiful and well taken care of and most of all the staff being Ms. Willis the nicest woman I ever met and very helpful. I arrived in a cab from staying in Philadelphia with my son and being I have emphysema and Iam 60 yrs old Ms . Willis was concerned for me getting to the location of the grave and that I was able to learn the date of my great grandmothers burial whom my mother was named after her and ironically was buried on same day as her grandmother many yrs later . Thank You Ms . Willis for all your help

I think this is a great cemetery lot of my family and friends are buried here it's so big and there are so many people buried there. I did not realize that the serial killer was buried there till I just read the comment about all the way back in 1896 that is crazy that it's been open that long even. it's very helpful when they are in there they're working they're very helpful helping you find Graves that you need to find because a lot of times is somewhat confusing if you do not know exactly where you are going. the only bad thing I can say is that my fiance's mother which would have been my mother-in-law who I never met and now my father-in-law is burried there with her. they do not clean their headstone at all so we have to clean it and it so like uckyy and green and it is a very nice plot. It just drives me nuts because every time we go we forget to bring cleaning supplies to clean it off ourselves. But we did tell them about it and they said they would clean it off but it never happened but anyway besides that is an amazing Cemetery.
