I'm so frustrated with Holyoke medical center. I took my husband there tonight because he was having really bad pains in side. We waited over 5 hours in the waiting room while I watched people come in after him be taken before him. I get they have to take people in the order of their emergencies. But I saw someone who claims to have had a car accident yesterday and looked completely fine go in before him I also saw a kid with a sprained knee go in before him. Well guess what when they finally decided it was emergency enough for him to finally be seen he ended up being admitted because he has a really bad infection. So while he sat there for 5 hours in sever pain I watched person after person be taken in and leaving before he was. If you have a real emergency I suggest going somewhere else because the way they decide to prioritize people is not right.

I have no complaints as the care that is given is five stars. I only rate as four stars because of the treatment of a CNA that was witnessed by me and my wife. Nobody should be put down for asking a legitimate question. If you are a nurse and are asked a simple question don't be pompus to your fellow workers and put them down. I am sure you were in the same position at one time or another.

My daughter was taken to Holyoke medical center on May 5 by ambulance due to opioid overdose. She mentioned that action ambulance EMTs were extremely kind and compassionate. However, she mentioned that the staff in the ER, with the exception of the doctor, lacked any sense of compassion or respect for her condition. When she arrived, and after the doctor checked her, she was quickly asked to move to the waiting room and wait there while they called her father to come and pick her up. She kept passing out in the waiting room and could barely keep her eyes open. She mentioned the security guard coming over and asking if she needed help or assistance. When she asked the nurse if she could lie down in one of the empty beds, the nurse said no, the beds are for emergency patients only. When the nurse from the ER called for someone to come and get my daughter, she said she just needed to "sleep this off". With today's opioid crisis and epidemic, I found it hard to believe that they offered her no help or assistance to find detox treatment and seemed to lack any kind of compassion for her condition at the time. I'm very disappointed with Holyoke medical center, I believe they could've done a lot more to help that day. I still can't believe they threw her out in that condition. My daughter almost died that day. The EMTs brought her to the emergency room for treatment which was very lacking. It hurts me to think of how she was treated that day. She was kicked to the curb and told to go wait in the corner till someone arrived to bring her home. She was alone and hurting that day, and no one there sat with her, the least they could have done. Lack of sympathy and dignity for my daughter who has a disease. They could've offered her some kind of assistance or reached out to her to help find her a treatment facility. Instead, they sent her to the waiting room as she was still trying to come out of the overdose and told her family to come and get her "she just needs to sleep it off". Very poor job in treating and caring for our victims of opioid addiction.

I spent a few weeks in the psyche ward up on the top floors where I could see my home from the window at the end of the hall. Very hospice with many young females being employed on main floor. Many workshop services available for boosting awareness. I took a AA class (even though I don't drink) the teacher had some caffeine coffee he was sharing. I took some. Their was a art room, and it was in general a very friendly enjoyable experience. Between 2 meals a day, a few free cigarettes a day, the classes, stress free because your stuck on that floor without internet which is surprisingly efficient at making you look at your own life in a different perspective. I made many friends, and learned that just because you've seen a couple a things, heard a couple of things, been through a couple of things in order to get put in there, that many if not most of the people I met in there, I would speak to again. If I could, I would live there because of the solace and peace of mind I get.
