Went to Houmas House to eat at the Carriage House restaurant.  We started out with a crawfish cake appetizer that was good, but not great.  The sea bass was excellent and the red gravy on the lasagna was incredible.  The white chocolate bread pudding was average, but the berry sorbet was outstanding.  Although the menu has a limited number of items, the range of food and prices do vary.  This place is not inexpensive, but we'll worth the cost.

Beautiful and well tendered garden. Shop sells interesting lots of Louisiana-themed items. Did not visit mansion since there was too long to wait for next tour. Also, tours are $24 per person, no senior discount.

Great location for a wedding. We attended one in front of the plantation home, and it was absolutely beautiful. After the wedding, we went through the home and were given a cup of gumbo on the way to the reception hall. The reception had delicious food also - the family especially enjoyed the sweet potatoes with duck.

The grounds are lovely and the shaded so it's always a few degrees cooler in the gardens than the parking lot out front. We walked around the gardens and had the lunch buffet in the restaurant. It was good, but must of the meal options are heavy. The bread pudding is delicious and it's with trying a little bit of everything on the buffet.

Beautiful old plantation home. Gorgeous gardens. Knowledgeable and outgoing staff. Great for events. Try the Champagne Cocktail in the Turtle Bar. Delish!
