This place is awesome. It has amazing homemade pastries and bread. It also has homemade sandwiches, soups, and salads. I decided to get a Caesars salad with a cappuccino. The Caesars was covered with chicken and a perfect blend of Parmesan cheese dressing and homemade croutons. I will definitely be back.
They make THE BEST bread! Their sandwiches are good and they have a lot of variety. The service was a little slow--but it was a Saturday & we didn't mind. If you live in the Reno area I highly recommend checking them out! The dining area is spartan, but not unwelcoming. AVOID going there when the high-school next door is on lunch break. They flood the place & showed no respect for elders buy letting a 68-year-old companion hold the door she opened to walk in, while they all streamed out, without even so much as a thank you. I would have dropped the door, personally.
This was my first visit to this cute Bakery. They had so many options for a morning snack that my daughter and I didn't know what to get. We asked jokingly if they had a sample platter. The extremely helpful and most positively happy lady working the counter offered us samples of pumpkin bread and herb bread, the pumpkin was so soft and had nice pumpkin and spice flavors, I declined the herb bread as I feared I would fill up on samples. We kept looking and my daughter found her Nutella cinnamon roll, I opted for a breakfast sandwich on jalapeño cheese bread. But, before we got our orders we were talking with both ladies that were working and they insisted I try the fresh sourdough bread. Now, if you are looking for a store bought flavor you are in the wrong place. This bread was soft and so obviously freshly baked and absolutely delicious. My sandwich was huge and also delicious. We loved this experience. Not only was everything we tried amazing so were the lovely ladies that worked there. They were so upbeat and exuded positive energy. They were informative and attentive to everyone in the store. Outstanding customer service, that's something you don't see a lot these days. And outstanding products. 10 out of 10! Thank you!!!
I found House of Bread to be a bit of a quandary. It is a bakery/sandwich shop but there were very few baked goods on display and not all of the sandwiches were advertised on the menu board. There were maybe 8 to 10 pastries displayed not many cookies and very few loaves of bread. I had to asked if they had breakfast sandwiches. The baked goods were good to very good. The breakfast croissant was very good but a little light on ham and too heavy on the cheese.
Cute shop where everything is made fresh daily. Verry tasty pastries! Large selection. Was very hard to choose! Ample seating inside and outside. Was cordially welcomed as we entered and was given explanations of pastries and even samples!
The House of Bread was a very pleasing find. The customer service was excellent. They offered without asking samples of their products. We very much liked that some of the carrot loaves were not overtly sweet. There was a good selection of freshly made breads. They also carry other sweet bakery products, bagels, quiche and the like. In addition they make fresh sandwiches and provide an area to enjoy breakfast or lunch. Parking: Parking is somewhat hampered due to the vendors selling vegetables in the area behind you when you back out of your parking place.
Nice place, cold and hot sandwich options. Plenty of bread varieties. Not too busy in the mornings, but during the noon hour it definitely gets busy and loud withthe high school students stopping in. To order sandwiches they have a little cutout with the different kinds of ingredients. You can order just the sandwich or make it a combo with either chips, or a cookie and a drink
Just went this morning. The shop looked cute and the lady at the register was nice. It's just, you go to a bakery because it's supposed to be as good as homebaked bread. I got two loaves, sourdough and banana walnut. Both were dry and the sourdough wasn't sour at all. A bit disappointing to buy 2 loaves for $16 that are comparable to the in store brand at any grocery store. I have no qualms against the store, just wasn't what I was expecting from a bakery.
This place is cozy and the food was delicious. We bought some homemade salsas to try. Atmosphere is great but could use a little music in the dining area.Food: 5/5
Why must people change things when things are already perfect. I've been going to house of bread since I first moved here 4 years ago. Susan was always working the front counter and she was great. Very knowledgeable about the products. I'm a weekly buyer and all of a sudden she was gone. I think she worked there for like 10+years and maybe 17 but don’t know exactly. Fast forward and a someone new purchased the shop. Like a lot of other reviews on here state the employees are always new. I have a suspicion that the new owners are not paying enough money hourly to keep quality employees. Anyway on to the bread. Over the last year I have noticed that when I take a slice of bread out it falls apart. Almost like there is too much air in the product and it can't stay together. Look at photos it is such a shame when a new owner comes in and screws things up. Please go back to the old recipe. I'm once again in search of a new bakery that puts pride and product in front of making the money. Update: I just returned to the store and the girls behind the counter were nice and exchanged the loaf and I saw the same thing. I was told "they are adjusting the recipe" which means they are trying to fix something that wasn't broken. I didn't ask for my money back and I left a fully stamped bread card on the counter and told them I'd never be back. The hunt for new bread is on. I’m really saddened about this. The bread at this place used to be so good that I would purchase multiple loaves to take to family in other states. Such a shame!!
