About

Our Mission: To create opportunities that transform lives through knowledge

Story

The library unites the old and new in its structure, as well as its contents. The original Carnegie building was completed in 1906 with money from philanthropist Andrew Carnegie and some local funds. The renovation and addition project were completed in 1991 and made possible through a bond issue. The new facility quadrupled the space available to meet the needs of our growing community.

Core Services: Reading, Viewing & Listening for Pleasure & Personal Knowledge; Early Childhood & Pre-Teen Literacy Experiences; Public Internet Access; Reference Assistance & Instruction; Business, Entrepreneurial and Workforce Development Support; Genealogy & Local History Assistance; Community Connections to Discover, Create & Innovate.

Staff member Brandy was very rude. She told us that they typically do not allow people to eat huge meals (I guess a sandwich and chips are a huge meal) in the library and made us eat in the cafe area... literally a table by the vending machines, which we then found hilarious because someone walked in with an entire pizza and then a family ate an entire meal from Culvers in the main library area. Staff members should encourage patrons to come use their library, especially when they are studying for several hours a day for a big exam. I have never had a poor experience prior to dealing with this staff member. Not sure if I will ever utilize this library again.

Great, cozy library for kids! Broad selection of books. Convenient location in downtown. Highly recommended if you are driving along with kids. Few restaurant options at walking distance.

Quite large and beautiful library. Many events always going on. Staff is always helpful. Only downfall is there aren't enough tables or study rooms, this location is usually quite busy.

I wish that when you provide a bookmark that on it you write dates of sales, that you would explain that some days are for "members only." I came on August 18th 2016 from Dexter only to be told that today was a "MEMBER ONLY" day. I made a special trip only to be told that I would have to pay $10 to see your book sale today, even if your large book sale sign was hanging above your building. I don't think this right.
