"Our Family Protecting Your Family"
The Hudson Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1974 by the Hudson Lions Club. The Lions Club
purchased our first truck from the Texas Forest Service and we began operations as the Hudson Lions Club
Volunteer Fire Department. After about 3 months the Department formed it's own Charter and became
Hudson Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.
The Department, located in Northwest Angelina County of East Texas, protects 76 square miles which makes
up the Hudson School District. We are an all Volunteer Department with funding provided by donations
collected by the Hudson Water Supply and the Woodlawn Water Supply. We also receive funding from Angelina
County and the City of Hudson. We are dispatched through a 911 system by the Angelina County Sheriff's Office.
After many years of hard work and fundraisers we ( the citizens of Hudson ) are the proud owners of two
Stations, Nine trucks and have over 20 active Firefighters. Station 1 is located about 2 miles West of Lufkin
on State Hwy 94 which houses Engine 1; a 1000 gpm pumper, Tanker 1; a 1800 gallon tanker, Brush 1,
Brush 3, Squad 1 and Utility 1. Station 2 which is located about 2 miles West of Lufkin on State Hwy 103
houses Attack 2; a mini-pumper, Tanker 2; a 2000 gallon tanker and Brush 2.
Officers are elected in December and serve a one year term. We meet at Station 1 on Ted Trout Dr
on Monday evenings at 7 pm.
