The Huntingdon County Drop-In Center Inc. is a consumer-run organization designed to provide a wide range of social, educational, and recreational activities to the local mental health population. It is a non-profit corporation overseen by a consumer-majority Board of Directors. , hereafter referred to as the 'Board'. Its daily operation shall be managed by a Director hired by the Board. The Huntingdon County Drop-In Center Inc affirms the Community Support System Philosophy of inclusion and non-discrimination and is committed to providing an open and comfortable setting for mental health consumers to experience mutual support, companionship, empathy, sharing, and assistance. It seeks to support the family members of our consumers as well as the consumers themselves. It seeks to support a healthy understanding of mental illness and the mentally ill within our community and to do our part to remove the stigma often associated with mental illness. It cooperates with other human service agencies in Huntingdon County as well as those funded by Tri-County MH/MR/EI. It conforms to state and federal nondiscriminatory guidelines in all its dealings, including hiring practices.
