We enjoyed the Mexican food at Illegal Pete’s. The Baja Fish tacos and bowls were very good and something that differentiates this restaurant from other restaurants such as Chipotle or Qdoba. The value of the dishes were also pretty good for the price. We will be back again.Food: 4/5
Everything was great except the taquitos. It’s usually fire and drenched in cheese but we legit ordered half and half taquitos with cheese and got fried rolled tortillas with almost no filling and practically no cheese.Food: 3/5
Edit- a month later waaaay worse! Downgrading review. 25 minute line due to sloooow service. Line down the sidewalk not due to popularity, but taking 7 minutes per person. Good food but the slowest service in town. If there are six people in line when you walk in the front door, go somewhere else because it's a 30 minute line. The attached photo is a 45 minute line. They are killing themselves. But credit where credit is due, the food is great and the people are always friendly.
Good food reasonably priced. You order at the counter and they make it as you move down the line. The Taquitos were crisp and crunchy and the meats were good. One in our party ordered corn tortilla tacos but got flour. They fixed new ones right away but all three were jumbled together and it became more of a taco bowl. Overall it is great food for the price. The beers on tap were good but the Margaritas were just ok.
The burrito was pretty good. I had the carnitas one with queso and guac. Sometimes you can't taste everything in a burrito but this one was flavourful. Service was funny, I felt like I had never seen that many people working in a restaurant. Everyone was nice though and it was quick.Food: 4/5
Whenever you go to this location for lunch, always expect for this to be a little bit of a wait as it is a very popular spot. On this particular visit they were slammed with to-go/pickup orders so the line was moving a little bit slower than normal. But all in all the staff maintained a calm composure and as always the food was delicious.
I recently visited Illegal Pete’s and was disappointed by the service I received. When I arrived, I was the only customer in the restaurant, but despite this, I had to wait about five minutes before anyone helped me. I was initially greeted and told they would be with me shortly, which was appreciated but overshadowed by the continued lack of service. During this time, three employees were present—one was preparing a pickup order, one was cooking and the other was chatting about prepping food. While I understand that there are tasks to be done, it felt frustrating to be completely overlooked as a customer in an otherwise empty space. I think a cook ended up helping me in the end as discussing prepped food was more important to the others. Unfortunately, the lack of attentiveness made my experience less enjoyable. I hope that in the future, the staff at Illegal Pete’s can prioritize in-store guests a bit more, even when handling other responsibilities.
We went here for dinner last night. The food is pretty good with a good selection of hot and cold add-ons. I had a burrito, and my husband had a burrito bowl. The burrito was massive, so I took about half home. I didn't care for the potatoes they had as they were overcooked and cold. The tomato salsa and corn salsas were very good. The reason for 4 stars is their $2.49 upcharge for a tiny container of queso or guacamole. I think that's a high upcharge for a small amount. They also had an upcharge on chips if you got the burrito. Chips, no queso, were included with the bowl. And the chip amount was tiny. I think the value here is lacking, which was disappointing. It was around $30 total for both meals, including one drink and a tiny container of queso. Personally, I think you get a better value at Torchys. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here. It's good food, but at the price point, I was expecting more of a wow factor.
Wow! The Big Fish burrito and the Fish bowl are amazing! The fish is cooked to order! I am impressed and hubby and I couldn't stop eating it! It was my first time here, and ALL the employees were so patient and kind, I can't wait to go back!!Food: 5/5
This place has a full bar and some of the best queso ever! We come here on the weekends and bring family when they're visiting. We love the atmosphere, the food, and the service! Just all around a great place!Food: 5/5
