I can't say enough good things about this company and their employees and truck drivers. They honored the initial estimate even though our weight was higher than they estimated. They completed the delivery at the early end of their promise. We moved into a neighborhood that made it a challenge for the truck, and they moved it for neighbors without a thought. I highly recommend this company!

I recently hired Imlach Collins to move my family from Dallas, where the company is located, to Midland where we recently started a new company. Without notifying me or my wife, Imlach Collins proceeded to outsource my move to its Atlas affilliate in Houston. Two days before hurricane Harvey hit Imlach Collins called to collect payment and confirm delivery our delivery date two days later. The following day I received a call from Imlach Collins notifying my wife and I that everything we owned was in storage in Houston, not Dallas, and our move would be delayed indefinitely due to the storm. No thanks to the poor planning of Imlach Collins we received our belongings a week later. When I requested reimbursement for my hotel bill (~$1,200) for the week long delay due to the storm and the fact that Imlach Collins had outsourced my move I was told that Imlach Collins or Atlas Van Lines were responsible for acts of god but they were willing to provide a $500 credit for my trouble. After outsourcing my move without notifying me, not having enough common sense to protect its clients belongings days earlier when it was clear Harvey would hit Houston, collecting payment without notifying me that my belongings were at risk, their lack of willingness to admit they dropped the ball and reimburse what amounted to less than a 10% discount on my $20,000+ move is baffling. You know you hired the wrong service provider when their representatives start referring to contracts or acts of god... If I ran my business that way I wouldn't be in business very long. Needless to say I won't be using or recommending Imlach Collins services personally or professionally in the future.

Imlach (aka Atlas) charged us for duplicative services in the amount of $250.00 and also tried to coerce authorization via telephone for charges in the amount of $2,419.84 for additional services under threat of not unloading our goods after arrival at destination. The company claimed additional charges were warranted for mover's shuttle of goods from truck to storage units. After we refused to authorize charges for shuttle services that were not identified as potential additional charges as required to be identified on the executed contract under Federal regulations, Atlas then told us we were responsible for "overflow delivery" (conveniently for the same dollar amount) since more than one truck was required to complete delivery. The executed contract covered "all items" without limitation for the number of trucks required to complete delivery. Atlas also knew that more than one truck was required to complete delivery prior to executing the contract. Atlas' sales person also told us that charging for shuttle service was at the discretion of the delivery driver since he is an independent contractor and it is his time required to shuttle. The driver never asked for additional payment for shuttle service - only Atlas. Furthermore, the driver had the option of driving into the storage location, but opted to use the on-site shuttle truck which "we" provided at "our" cost. Finally, there was much less work and time involved with transferring items from one truck backed up to another, driving a few hundred feet to the storage units, and unloading into small storage units vs carrying everything by hand and dolly and placing in numerous locations on multiple floors throughout a home. I have relocated cross-country five times now and have NEVER encountered anything even remotely close to this type of behavior. The attempt to extort us into paying an additional $2,419.84 by threatening to withhold our goods upon arrival at the storage destination, and in breach of a legally binding and federally regulated agreement, and then charging the amount without authorization is beyond comprehension. Fortunately, the driver did not care about Atlas' efforts to coerce us into paying additional, unwarranted charges and unloaded everything without issue or incident. Our counsel is currently preparing a legal complaint and if this charge is not reversed immediately, a legal action will be commenced. Hopefully this will result in Atlas refraining from such behavior with other customers in the future.
