Story

If you are looking for a quick getaway, a place where you can walk miles of trails among towering trees or discover what Southeastern Michigan used to look like, head for Indian Springs Metropark. Get an intimate look at the area’s native ecosystems at the Environmental Discovery Center, or hike trails meandering the headwaters of the Huron River, an area virtually untouched by human hands. Located nine miles northwest of Pontiac, the park encompasses more than 2,215 acres of wooded wetlands and rolling meadows. The diverse habitats provide a natural sanctuary for a wide range of wildlife. If you are lucky, you may spy a red fox running across the restored prairieland or even hear coyotes howling at trains passing nearby. Observe a captivating wildflower display from April through June.

Indian Springs Metropark also hosts a variety of recreation including an 18-hole regulation golf course, the Environmental Discovery Center with an underwater pond viewing room, a paved hike-bike trail, scenic picnic areas, volleyball and horshoe pits. In the summertime, kids can cool off at the Spray ’n’ Play spray grounds with the Adventure Maze, rock-climbing wall and a tot lot. In the winter, cross country-ski nearly 12 miles of trails or bring your sled and try the hill in the Meadowlark Picnic Area.

The event room at Indian Springs Metropark’s Environmental Discovery Center is a stunning venue for your next party or banquet. Entertain guests in a beautiful, 200-capacity room overlooking a pond and open meadows.

We used the Environment pavilion for a wedding reception. The staff was magnificent. The facility is very nice on a crystal clear pond with large bluegill viable. The display of pond life was not open as we were in the upper banquet room, but it was well laid out and worth the $10 day pass to see again.

I've only visited the golf course, but the rest of the park looks very nice also. The course is one of the best in the area for the money as far as I'm concerned. Has an "up-north" course feel as its cut into the woods, but pretty close to the Detroit metro area. Course is kept in good shape and offers some challenging holes. Very good beer and food selection in the clubhouse too!

Beautiful bike and walking path! I have not played the golf course in many years but have heard that it is nice. Great place for a picnic. Very nice for children!

Indian Springs is amazing! We had a July wedding and it was absolutely beautiful. The natural setting makes the most magical photos. The customer service is outstanding- Brittany made sure I was taken care of all night; they were polite and friendly, and our guests had a wonderful time. Indian Springs is an affordable, top-quality wedding venue & we highly recommend them!
