There is a great variety of art class choices for different people and budgets. There is also opportunity to receive financial assistance or for children to receive free art education through community partner programming around the city. IF you have time and money, then you have a real opportunity to take classes from some of the very best artists in the city. But the very best part of the Indianapolis Art Center is free. The exhibitions inside the Art Center galleries feature work by nationally acclaimed artists, as well as young blooming artists and students too. There is no other gallery in Indianapolis as diverse and eclectic as the Art Center. Additionally, the sculpture park is also free and a beautiful place to experience art and nature. Another amazing thing is the history. The building itself is designed by Michael Graves -- who is from Broad Ripple too -- and was picked by Joyce Sommers herself. In the words of Kurt Vonnegut: "The Art Center is an example of America at its most Utopian -- peaceful, welcoming to one and all, and boundlessly optimistic."

I had a private group take part in their glass making and heir ceramics class. Number 1 organizing this all with the event manager was amazingly simple and they were more than willing to work with us. Number 2, the instructors were great. You can tell they thoroughly love their jobs and sharing art with others. Number 3 and most importantly, our group had an absolute blast.

. Thank God for writing because I’m speechless. I paid over $700.00 for an Ornamental Blacksmithing course being held at Indianapolis Art Center. I was a *new patron and live in Carmel (a 20-30 min drive.) I signed up for the class then the only communication I received from Indianapolis Art Center was an email receipt. NO Welcome email. NO Thank You email. NO Information (syllabus) on the class. NO Introduction. Nothing. (Not even promotional emails) THEN? My son and I drive down to the Indianapolis Art Center for our first class and wait. And wait. And wait along with about five other people. The girl from the front desk approaches us apologizing but the instructor isn't coming. AND? He didn't call or text. Just a No Show. You can’t be serious. This is how you treat your patrons? What is wrong with you people? I paid your business $700.00. Not $50.00 Not $200, but $700.00 Think about that for a minute. That could buy a lot of things. The thing I wanted it to buy was time together with my son being creative & learning something new. Instead, I get this. $700.00 could buy a crappy car. 🚗 Maybe I’ll make you a Crappy Car Sculpture so you can display your core-values on your front lawn. March 24th, 2018 EDIT: Thank you for the apology. I’m curious to know why it took over 24 hours to respond. I received a response only after I posted an email I had sent to the President of the Indianapolis Art Center to my Twitter feed (ATweetThing). Nobody gets welcomed to your company? No one receives promotional emails? Information and syllabuses aren’t sent to anyone? And after the instructor didn’t show up you didn’t send an email apologizing and giving the new make-up date to ANYONE? Really? Something isn’t right. And I believe this is a perfect forum to discuss my experience. Potential patrons can see for themselves how I’ve been treated & how your company handles valid criticism. Do Unto Others as you would have them do unto you...and I *know for a fact I have done nothing to any of you. EDIT: What are the dates and times for the Ornamental Blacksmithing Course currently in progress? You don’t have anyone employed to respond to Social Media Posts? EDIT: March 27th, 2018 I haven’t heard from the Indianapolis Art Center in four days. 🦗🦗🦗🦗 Their silence nearly confirms my suspicions about what may have happened & why. If you would like to respond please use the email you have in my New Patron file. FINAL THOUGHT: If there is a God my review won’t get buried by Google Maps. Perhaps my review is the one everyone needs to read & think about before giving them $700.00. 💵💵💵💵💵💵💵 No Justice. And the Indianapolis Art Center is not the only local business to treat me & my family poorly. Think about why.

My 12 yr old son attend a six week woodworking class and he absolutely loved it! His teacher was very nice and seemed to enjoy teaching the students about woodworking. He would come and tell me what he learned in the class. I will be enrolling him soon in the near future for more woodworking courses.
