Indy Indie is the largest artist community in the city with 72 artist live/work spaces. It was developed and is owned and managed by Reverie Estates (who focuses on the development and management of historic apartments in Downtown & Irvington). The spaces feature stained/sealed concrete floors, great natural light, city views or northern light, all utilities included, free high speed internet, a kitchen and vintage bathroom in every space, and a community of your peers, all starting at $420 a month. The building features an art gallery, fashionable laundry room, intercom system, bicycle parking, gym, and recycling!
The original vision for the colony was to have an art gallery in the first floor commercial space, one that would feature resident artwork. That vision became a reality December 3, 2010 with the gallery's soft opening. The gallery features resident artwork, IDADA First Friday shows, rotating exhibits, theme-based shows, and special events, all managed by the notable Bobbie Zaphiriou, Gallery Director.
