Great way to spend the day with family! Feel like hiking today? At Inks Lake there are many trails to choose from with gorgeous scenic views or if you just want to experience a little nature and look at flowers when they are in bloom. They have a small general store next to the waters edge where you can rent kayaks and paddle boats or simply bring your own for the fun filled day. Be sure to head over to the Devil's Watering Hole and enjoy some peaceful swimming and watching the crowd flock to the rocks to jump in the water. At Inks lake there are playgrounds for the kids to have a blast. If you'd like to stay awhile there are many campsites as well as cabins.

This is my favorite state park in Texas, it is a great place to kayak, swim, and fish. I have never had a problem with any of the park rangers. They have restrooms that have showers, however they are not the cleanest nor the most disgusting restrooms. There are river access campsites that I high recommend when bringing a kayak. I highly recommend this state park during the spring or early summer.

One of my favorite state parks in Texas. A nice hour drive West of Austin at (approximately) the junction of hwy 29 and hwy 281. Contains a lot of great hiking trails (a 10-12 mile loop at one end and a 4-5 mile non-loop at the other) and the gorgeous lake. Canoes/kayaks can be rented.

Beautiful location but felt crowded. Lots of motor boats and rowdy campers. Some of the parts of the trail were absolutely covered in garbage, clothes, discarded swimming toys. We visited on Saturday morning before the park opened and all their trash cans and can recycling stations were completely full. Either staff doesn't clean up or, more likely, things get rowdy at night. Once you walked out past the distance the average drunk tourist is willing to wander, it felt really serene. The pink granite makes a beautiful landscape. There are some little places along the trail that are bursting with wildlife. This place has areas safe for little children across from the general store. The rocks are pointy and difficult to walk on barefoot so bring shoes. There are small cacti right up on the shore. My daughter took off her shoes while we swam and stepped on one which got a thousand tiny spines stuck in her foot. This is a normal hazard of parks, but watch out. There was also a little bit of fishing litter in the area so stepping on a hook is a possibility. Seems to be a popular destination for large groups of rich people with campers and luxury camping equipment. I didn't get a chance to check out the remote campsites.

I came out with a friend of mine for his birthday. The lake was beautiful and clean! We had so much fun hanging out and swimming. There were a lot of people on canoues, which kept the view interesting.
