Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. was established in 1928 by E. William and Angelina Perrelli Iovanne. They first operated out of a small store front building on Chapel Street in New Haven at a time when wakes and funerals were done in the home. Their ideas toward funeral service were simple, "Always treat a person the way you want them to treat you." Today, second and third generation directors E. William Iovanne and William G. Iovanne and the entire staff at Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. still feel the same way about how people should be treated. The Iovanne reputation was built on honesty, trust and compassion. We pay special attention to every request our families make. It is this attention to detail that sets us apart from other funeral homes.
The facility, located in Historic Wooster Square was first built in 1843 for Theron Towner, a shipping merchant, who stayed here until his death. It was then acquired by Frank W. Pardee, Vice-President of the Benedict Pardee Coal Company and later by the Maisano family. Our family took ownership of the property in the early 1950's and created space in the stately home to include two spacious chapels, lounge and office areas. We took special care to preserve the integrity of the home throughout renovations. Today, the facility, decorated to enhance the buildings original beauty and integrity, is handicap accessible with ample off street parking.
