The first mosque built by the Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him) and his followers was a central meeting place of worship, civil society, community affairs, interfaith interaction, education and enlightenment. It was an establishment aimed at promoting unity, tolerance and spiritual enrichment for the local community, also setting the precedence for future generations of Muslims to emulate throughout the world. In light of Muhammad’s prophetic example, mosques aspire to overcome divisions between cultures, skin colors, rich and poor -- all standing shoulder-to-shoulder, facing a single direction with the shared aspiration - to devote their lives to the worship of God Almighty.

Nearly 1400 years later, the Islamic Center of Ocala is one among millions of mosques around the world that attempts to continue that same legacy of fostering spiritual growth, belief and way of life. The Islamic Center of Ocala is more than just a house of worship; it also serves as a place for various community functions and inspirational programs for all families and friends.

The ICO offers:

Knowledge of Islam –available to all (See “Contact” for more info)

Congregational Prayers (Salah) & The Friday service (Jumu’ah)

Foundational Islamic education for youth and Quran study for adults on Sundays

Project Downtown – charity food distribution for the local needy and volunteer program

Various events including informative workshops, fundraisers for good causes, celebrations, community dinners, interfaith dialogue and programs for enlightening Islamic knowledge and inspiration.
