Fantastic family-owned restaurant with authentic Filipino dishes! Our large party arrived close to their closing time, but the couple who run the place were friendly and accommodating. They prepared the dishes family style, instead of the normal individual portions with rice. Don't forget to leave room for dessert!
First time having Filipino food ever! I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to go back. Great food, great service, and even a great atmosphere as they were playing different Super Bowl halftime shows while we were there!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: Yes
It had been too long since I had Filipino cooking, so I was eager to give Island Cuisine a try. It didn’t disappoint though there is room for improvement in a few areas. Island Cuisine boasts a fairly extensive menu, offering everything from apps to noodles pancit to rice bowls to various proteins to soups and more. You can do breakfast for dinner here, and there are several vegetarian options as well. For our first visit, my wife and I went with a meat lumpia, a pinakbet Japanese eggplant, squash, green beans, and okra over rice, and a pork binagoongan pork with pineapple in a coconut milk sauce. We didn’t have long to wait for our food, and the pricing here our entrees were in the $10 to $12 range left no complaints. The food offered more hits than misses. The lumpia were quite thin but tasty and crispy. The vegetables in the pinakbet made for a vibrant medley, and the Japanese eggplant in particular shined. The pork dish featured a very satisfying sauce that reminded me a bit of a Panang curry. However, the accompanying sauteed zucchini was confusingly lukewarm. We'd also paid $3 extra to add fried pork belly to the pinakbet, and it proved very dry. Overall, Island Cuisine offers a good change-of-pace, and I will keep it in mind the next time a Filipino craving hits.
Fantastic first experience with Island Cuisine. We all loved our meals and the lumpia - both veggie and with meat. Pork fried rice was delicious. Nice place and we’ll definitely go back! Update - already went back a few days later and once again loved it! Pork Sisig is absolutely fantastic!
Island Cuisine Filipino is a very interesting new cuisine option in the Triad. We stopped by today for a takeout meal. We loved the new flavors, freshly prepared options offered here. Our order included: Meat Lumpia appetizer, sweet and sour chicken and Sissig pork with two fried eggs. If you are looking for a new Asian cuisine option current regular favs equal Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Thai We recommend giving this spot a try!
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner here this evening. This is a place you order at front counter and get called when your food is ready. The flavors were good. I had the Pancit Bahon and my husband had the adobo chicken. We also shared an appetizer of lumpia.
Just tried for the first time and it is delicious! I usually don’t like Okra but it’s so good in this dish! Staff was super welcoming and nice as well. Will be back and will recommend to all of my friends
I read the reviews and the pics of the food looked so yummy!! I ordered the Vegetable lumpia and lechon kawali. The vegetable lumpia was good, and it's fried egg rolls with vegetables inside. The sauce that came with it has a very strong vinegar taste, which I don't like. I'm not a big fan of vinegar. The lechon kawali was good, but some pieces were way over fried that made it harder than it should. The pork belly was a little too fried that, it tasted good if I eat the entire piece at once, nit biting the skin, fat and meat separately. In some pieces, the meat portion was a little dry. Overall, it was good. I didn't expect this restaurant is a fast food style restaurant. For fast food, it's good. I would come back and try other dishes if I'm in the area again. The young lady at the counter was very polite and helpful.... I just microwaved the leftover. The pork belly tasted better. It's softer.
We had a wonderful afternoon at Island Cuisine Filipino Restaurant. Friendly service and great hospitality! The food was amazing! Highly recommended.
I stopped by Island Cuisine yesterday while on my way to Arden, NC. I ordered sisig and chinese eggplant, both were very tasty; sisig was perfectly cooked with enough crispiness and a good mix of meat and spices. Will be definitely be back to try other dishes.
