J. Russell Jinishian has been internationally recognized as the Nation’s Leading Authority on Contemporary Marine Art for over 25 years. Formerly the long time Director of the Mystic Maritime Gallery at the Mystic Seaport Museum, his writings have appeared in such publications as Sailing, Sea History, and Art New England. He was a contributing editor of Nautical World magazine, and is the founder and publisher of Marine Art News, the nation’s only publication dedicated to contemporary marine art and its artists, since 2001. He is the author of Bound for Blue Water, considered the Definitive Guide to Contemporary Marine Art, and has served as a juror for many exhibitions including the prestigious Art for the National Parks Exhibition. He sits on the Advisory Board of the National Maritime Historical Society and is a member of The New York Yacht Club, and an honorary member of the American Society of Marine Artists. He continues to lecture nationally on Marine Art and Collecting.
