Wanted to see what this place was all about. I enjoyed the works roll. I agree that the meat is unseasoned, but the sandwich was good. Their tarter sauce is very flavourful and could be added to the works roll. The sandwich was huge! There is plenty of meat on it. I wanted extra truffle sauce and was told a dipping cup of it was $10. I will definitely be getting this sandwich again, but I will ask for tarter sauce and more melted butter on the side. I would also add a lemon twist to it. Beautiful atmosphere inside of the bottle works building. Husband loved his shrimp basket. Shrimp was seasoned and good portion. Our food with drinks came out to he around $75 Parking: 1-3hrs cost $6 for parking
Service was prompt, food hall atmosphere is great, and I loved my Lobster Roll. Order it cold, so much better that way! I see some hate & discontent in the reviews about price but seriously my $26 lobster roll for amount of lobster loaded on was well worth it. It was tasty delicious and the lobster really shines. Plus, let me assure you from having to travel at work and Lobster Rolls being a favorite that prices are pretty much the same if not more back east right by the source! No joke! It was quality seafood and looking forward to when can come back. Thanks for a lovely lunch and a tasty treat J’s. Vegetarian options: Chopped salad available or could mod some things to not have bacon. Plus, being in a food hall there is vegetarian options right next door, same venue. Enjoy! Kid-friendliness: Lots to see fun decor, tools, machines, car decor and so many options there is going to be something they will like Wheelchair accessibility: Ramps, single floor, accessible tables
Best lobster roll I’ve ever had. Incredibly fresh and flavorful without an overwhelming number of condiments masking sub par lobster. Highly recommended!Food: 5/5
First of all, the woman passing the food out was picking her nose. I watched her carefully and her fingers never touched my food, but come on! Secondly, the lobster tastes like it’s been microwaved. Thirdly, the coke slaw tastes like nothing but cabbage and Mayo. I didn’t even see any signs of salt and pepper in it. THIS IS NOT WORTH $30 FOR ONE LOBSTER ROLL MEAL. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
We tried J’s Lobster in its new location at The Food Garage in Bottleworks. They’re reasonably priced at $18 for the lobster roll and $15 for the crab roll. We found their lobster mac ‘n cheese to be delicious, but at $18 I am not sure if we would reorder. Both their lobster roll and crab roll are served with the seafood purposefully cold, which we weren’t a big fan of. There is also no sauce or seasoning to the seafood in the rolls, just a large heaping scoop of lobster or crab meat. The bread/bun, however, was served warm and buttery. Their coleslaw is vinegar based which was a different touch that we enjoyed.
Ok, so $25 lobster rolls might sounds outrageous, but the fact is, Indiana is land locked and lobster isn't cheap! I've been a fan of this place a long time! I only left out a star because I got home from grabbing dinner and realized I was shorted a clam chowder - and I just don't have it in me to go back out and ask for my $8 back. However, if you're lucky enough to have their food truck come to your home town, I highly recommend you stop! Just maybe be smarter than me and double check your order before you drive home :
Saturday lunch had fish tacos special, lobster nachos, clam chowder. Lobster nachos plentiful chips alot of shredded lettuce, Some slightly spicy chowder cheese sauce sliced red peppers nice touch and definitely some real lobster pieces. First time ever had this blend, and probably enough as an appetizer for 2-4 people large serving but enough for 1-2 people. Somehow would have enhanced the lobster/seafood flavor but a good twist. There was an option for two additional seafood components one was shrimp so might try that someday. Fish tacos the shell was typical soft and the medium/heavy coarse breaded fried fish were unusually shaped cylindrical rods so I thought overcooked dark breading and fish inside still slightly moist so maybe could have been fried a tad less. Sauce was almost a slight cilantro-like accent flavored and it was room temperature which I expected it to be warmer. The clam chowder was tasty for the clams with a smooth creamy sauce but not sure about the potato cubes they texture somehow were more soft than you'd expect in a fresh soup almost as if overcooked and hollow to the bite unexpected from other restaurants' but still enough firmness to be slightly bulky/filling. The fish tacos special were $14, lobster nachos $18 and clam chowder $6. I probably would have been happy with just a couple servings of clam chowder! Actually full after the clam chowder and half the lobster nachos and a little bit of the fish tacos, the rest saved for later. It was cold outside and wish the food itself was warmer temperature. The server was cordial and polite so no issues there.
Delectable Seafood for a price. Got the sea food dip on special, and we were not disappointed. Full of crab, shrimp, and lobster. Also ordered the lobster grilled cheese. Also good, however, for 22 dollars, the lobster was a little scarce. All in all the food was great. The prices are a little high. But hey, that's seafood in the Midwest.
Our new favorite place! Love the Salmon - so fresh and well prepared and love the Shrimp Roll. I knew when my 12 y.o. asked for the salmon AGAIN the next day, that we were hooked! Wish the price point was more competitive, but I'll definitely be back!
The side of Mac and Cheese is a huge portion! Would have liked a bit more cheese but overall it was good, the breadcrumbs add a nice texture to it as well. It is big enough for 3 people as a side if you’re getting other food as well.
